Black rims?
Hey guys, I actually plasti-dipped my rims a while back, but I am not satisfied with the way it looks now. I've been looking into getting some new black wheels, but all of the prices seem pretty steep. Has anyone made the change from the factory chrome wheels to black, and if so, can you point me toward a reliable source?
P.S. I would prefer them to not be very expensive lol

I had mine powder coated, too. The OEM gloss black, in my opinion, is kind of bland. So, to give the wheels a little pop, I had the powder coater add some metal flake. Here are three pictures taken with my phone. Unfortunately, the metal flake looks like chips in the picture, but in real life, I think they look good. Oh, I paid $500. for the powder coating.

I made the mistake of getting the stock chrome wheels and car will be here in 3 weeks, wish I had spent the money on black rims. Perhaps the dealer could do a swap but not counting on it. Car is silver with stinger hood, I think black wheels would look better ??

So far nearly every C7 I have seen has black rims. I guess I am in the minority, but to me they certainly do not look unique in any way. They were unique on the C6s when only a few cars had the aftermarket versions, although they were not for me. The peer pressure threads on this forum are sometimes humorous. "If your car is not just like mine... it ain't cool."
But different strokes for different folks.

Black not my cup of tea, would not like to keep them clean looking, they look like a police car and would not pay the extra cash. Do what you like, you are the one that well live with it.

Base wheels, painted in carbon flash and then baked, several thousand miles and no chips or scratches so far. My paint guy is even impressed with how durable the paint wound up being.

This is great news Jeremy. Much better than I thought it would be. It would be worth finding out exactly what products and procedures your painter used and report them here. Certainly seems to be better than the Chevy paint schedule and product they are using.
