I have never had the pleasure of being a V owner but I think only you can answer the question about making the right choice. Personally, I think you will be happy!
Enjoy your car!

I owned a 2011 CTS-V coupe w/RECARO's and A6 and now a 2014 Stingray ZF1 w/A6.
This won't be of any help, but I loved both equally, but for different reasons. GM built two awesome super high performance cars. So you get to pick and choose.
Good luck.

I am lucky to have both 2011 V with auto and a 2014 z51 Vet auto.
Had to get auto due to a dropped foot but that's another issue.
As stated before both cars are exceptional but for different reasons.
When I had the 2009 Vet and a 2010 V people would give me thumbs up on the V and nothing on the Vet.
The 2014 Vet changed that around.
Neither car is a winter car in Pittsburgh.
The seats in the new vet are as comfortable as the Recaro's - My opinion.
The vets have been to Mid Ohio, Beaver Run and Nelsons Ledges.
I have never put the V on the track.
Both are at the top of their game. If you need to carry more than 2 people then V if not then Vet
Better yet keep them both.......... I did

You're the only one who knows if what you're doing is a mistake. I've never owned a V but have admired them for years. Im sure you'll like your new Vette but for different reasons. Enjoy.

Melting Slicks
We have a 2013 CTS V Sedan A6 pulling about 580 HP with simple intake mods. The car is simply astounding. There is a reason why it held the stock sedan record at the Ring for 6 years or so and was the first sedan to ever break the 8 minute mark. On our first test drive we took it up to 160 and knew we had to have it. With a simple pulley mod you can easily push it up to 620 HP.
We love the car and the Recaro seats and the huge moon roof. But the Recaros have something like 18 or 22 seperate adjustments and there is a specific sequenced technique for optimizing the adjustments. Once accomplished, it's maybe the best seat in the auto industry, including the various Ferraris and DB9s I've driven. Much better than the C7 competition seats unless one is perhaps under six foot tall and weighing in at about 180 or less.
We also have a C5 Vert with various mods and M6 that we love dearly, but after extensively driving three different C7's, a friend's C7 Z51 M7 Vert with Mag Ride, a C7 Z51 M7 Coupe with Mag Ride and an MGW shifter, and a C7 Base vert A8 without Mag Ride, we now know that a C7 is definitely in our near future.
We plan to keep both the CTS V A6 and the new C7 Z51 M7 Coupe for a long time. The near perfect high powered 4 seater for road trips with friends and the near perfect 2 seater sports car, both with Mag Ride.
If I had to choose between the two, the nod would go to the C7, but I would very much miss the V, except for the lousy ZR1 engines 21 MPG freeway mileage. Fortunately, we don't have to choose.
The C7 Z51 M7 coupe that we want with Mag Ride and an MGW shifter ( a must have mod!) and the 19/20 wheel setup is a truly phenomenal sports car in every respect. The coupe also functions very much like a vert. The old C4, C5, and C6 coupe lid off cockpit turbulence issues have been resolved.
Good luck with your decisions.
