Question on Tires
If I order a new basic 2D Coupe with out the Z51 package, Will it come with the summer only tires, or something else? Also, if ordered with the Z51 style chrome wheels (with 19/20 inch tires) what type of tires would it come with. My local dealers don't seem to know anything about new Corvettes.

Base car comes with 18/19's and Z51 comes with 19/20's. All are Michelin performance tires, not recommended for use under 40*. Although many have reported using them in freezing temps without issue, traction is definitely an issue.

I drove it from Detroit to my home in OH.
Temps varied from 16 degrees in Det. to 26 degrees in OH.
I ran it in Weather mode, and had no problems on dry roads.
I didn't try any crazy maneuvering.
Just be careful in cold weather.
(P.S. I have the Magnetic Selective Ride…get it too!)

That still doesn't answer the question of whether the cracking (which they claim is cosmetic in one breath, but should be replaced in the next breath ) is actually an issue for both safety and wear issues over the next x thousand miles.

I have 4 vehicles with Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I have not driven any of them in snow or ice. While I have seen their traction be affected by cool-cold temps ( above freezing) I can't believe that they will be damaged by driving in very cold temps. How they handle in those temps is a different story. There is NO WAY Michelin would allow you to drive those tires in freezing conditions if the tire would crack or otherwise fail. The remainder of their disclaimers regarding winter conditions are real.
I have had winter or A/S tires on any vehicle driven in winter conditions. When we leave FL for points north at Christmas, we switch out our Pilot Super Sports. When we lived in the midwest in the winter, I had winter-only tires.
If you want to drive your Vette in the winter... be prepared to get the correct tires. (Unfortunately) Don't expect GM to supply them on the car.

Yes, but is there any definite answer as to the cracking in cold weather less than 20 degrees?

I don't plan on putting a lot of miles on in the winter with summer tires, so I hope I don't find out!
I drove it home, about 120 miles, cleaned the car, and it is going into storage until the weather breaks.
