Dog Chewed up C7 FOB
I see I can get a new FOB off of EBAY for about $110 but don't want to buy one until I'm sure about the reprogramming. Can I do this or does the dealer need to do it? 11 Month old Border Collies need to be supervised around EVERYTHING!!

You can program the replacement as FOB #3 yourself. Of course there is no Memory #3 so you're SOL for that (if you have a 2LT interior or higher).
If you want the replacement to be #1 or #2, you'll need your dealer to do it. Of course there's still the problem of the key and I don't think a dealer can do that

According to the owner's manual, you can program the new RKE and make the 2 RKEs you have #1 and #2

You would need to do the long form procedure as if you had NO RKEs and were starting from scratch.

Since the "guts" still work I would transfer them to a new case.
It was far easier to child proof our house than to puppy proof it.
My daughter and I picked up our new working line German Shepherd puppy on a Friday afternoon and the next morning while I was warming up a cup of coffee in the microwave (45 seconds total absence from the room) Cheyenne had removed the four keys surrounding the pointer button from my laptop along with the pointer button which is what she really wanted. The four keys were undamaged and sitting in a stack near the screen and the pointer only had one tooth mark. That was a wake up call, fortunately at 18 months she is now very well behaved except for being a bit stubborn at times.
If you haven't tried Nylabone Dura chews I highly recommend them, the dinosaurs are Cheyenne favorites and I order them in packs of 3 from Amazon. They last for 4 to 6 months unlike typical toys which are destroyed within a day.
When I was in the Ph.D. program during one day my dissertation chair's Lab chewed into the sidewall of both rear tires on his C4 and also the phone and cable connections to the house. The dog was normally well behaved and never did anything like that before or after, apparently a teenage dog thing.

However, try the nylabone 'monster' for any larger/heavy chewing dog. I have an english bulldog and his nylabone monster is still going strong after 3 years! We just throw it in the washer machine with his pillow every couple of weeks and voila!

Thanks for the info. I will add one to Cheyenne's next order because we have to keep the girl happy so she doesn't chew on tires and other expensive stuff

So much depends upon the breed. My dog is 14 years old and she has total respect for anything having to do with cars. She got driving gloves when she was 6 and she has been driving me around for over 8 years.
She recently finished vocational school and has an advanced degree in solar installation, plumbing, painting and electrical work. If you want to send me the FOB, there is a good chance that she could repair it for you.
She has all of her own tools, including ladders , map gas rig and oscilloscope. With the four paws and everything she is also an accomplished tile setter. It is amazing what she can do to earn a living and not be burden on society.
The only problem that I seem to have is that she has been an apprentice to the trades and she has learned a few bad habits. It seems that lately she seems to knockoff on Fridays at around 12:30 and then she starts drinking beer for the rest of the day!
On more than one occasion I have had to go to a job site and drive her home as she knows to never try to drink and drive. Again, it all depends upon the breed.
