Default OK, you Fatmat installers weren't exaggerating!!!!

I read all the threads and bought into the hype enough to buy the Fatmat for sound deadening. While I believed that it would help, I figured some of it was placebo affect with the rave reviews......but you guys weren't lyin'!! Significant reduction in the road noise as well as significant improvement in the audio......as you stated......with the base being more basey than boomy.

After finishing it today, I took my son for a ride and he was the first to comment how much quieter the ride was......I noticed the audio improvement. I did behind the seats as many have sown and completely covered the back of my Lloyds Ultimate rear mat. I actually peeled it and stuck it to the back.....every sq inch.

So thanks Rad22, GlenE, and all the others........it truly did as much as you said it would.....well worth the $60, time, and effort........my apologies for doubting.

Nice mod, it's on my list of things to do. I installed sound deadening material in my C6 Coupe and C6 Z06 with very good results.

not sure why anyone would think that several posters that don't know each other would get sucked in by a placebo.....

I only post things that work...if I posted what I've done that did not work, the forum would be flooded with threads....LOL

I searched already, so don't even say it

Is there a thread somewhere, with a step by step method for getting the panels off, and putting the sound deadener down. Which products are best etc....

Nice. Where did you buy the Fatmat? The price on Amazon for the 80 mil is now up to $110, instead of the $60. Has anyone done this with Dynamat? I know that it is more expensive, but from what I have seen on comparison's, the Dynamat Extreme is far superior to anything else. Looking on Amazon, the price difference is about $40 (unless someone has a source for the Fatmats for the original $60.

I'm a fan of Glen's detailing methods, so I followed his lead and installed the FatMat last weekend. Just a short drive, did not experience all the varying road surfaces but an improvement was evident.

Cheers

Is there a reason why no one uses Dynamat? Havent seen good reviews on fatmat.

Answer: Price

However, Dynamat Xtreme and B-Quiet Ultimate both have better sound dampening properties than Fatmat.

Here is a great thread from an audio forum. I won't get into the debate of which brand is better, or whether to do full v. partial coverage or whatever. You can check it out yourself. CLICK HERE

I used B-Quiet ultimate in my project here simply because I found it cheaper than Dynamat at the time and their properties are nearly identical when it comes to vibration damping.

For an easy sound absorption solution (damping plus absorption = sound deadening) I would look at the block-it mat, since the back is where a lot of the unwanted noise comes from and it resonates with the rear window. For a more in depth job see my tread.

No, that's not what I meant.......I expected it to work.....just not sure to the degree that some were touting........but no one exaggerated their claims......that's my real point.....it works to the degree everyone said it would.

I got nothin' but positives .....sorry if it came across differently.
