I see your point but it's possible that the guy changing the oil might pause when they see the cap saying "Mobile 1" and ask a question or double check the order. I'm not saying it would work every time on every person but it couldn't hurt considering it's a $20 part.

Oh, absolutely, there is a chance. And if we knew the part number for non dry sump I'd buy it too for $20 (for appearance reasons). But most techs just want to get done as fast as possible and just do the same thing on all cars unless directed otherwise...

I look at it this way. It's 10:00 AM, the "oil changer" dude has finished eight cars this morning and is daydreaming about happy hour at the VFW and the new blonde bartender. Now the service advisor wrote on the service bill to use Mobil 1 but he just grabbed the same old oil filler hose he's used all morning. He goes for the cap and gets an extra reminder to use the Mobil 1. Yeah, it's academic but for less than $20, I like the idea of the extra notice. I spent that much on my first fill up.

cheap extra layer of protection (hopefully). The cost is only .00025% of the car.

The assumption of course is the oil change guy knows Mobil1is different than the oil he used for all of the other changes he did that day.

Ken, good luck finding the 710 Oil Cap. The important part is finding THE WELL ENDOWED BLOND TO INSTALL IT!

When I went in for my second free oil change last month, it was written on the order for Mobil 1. I watched the tech to be sure I was getting just that! As I was watching...he reached for the overhead hose and had to yell to him..".Mobil 1"!!! Good thing that I watched and caught him! I would have got the blend oil instead!
So, maybe a cap stating "Mobil 1 Only" would have helped.

The irony in all of this is that dexos is probably better oil.

http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...Number=2314385

If it is anything like motorcraft synthetic blend, it has excellent UOAs on that forum.
The post above further states that the additive pack in dexos is similar to M1 0w40 and should do well in high stress situations. I gather that many here are going with M1 0w30 or 5w30, which probably is not as good.

The full synthetic vs syn blend vs dino oil labels only have to do with the base stock, and there are advantages and disadvantages to each.

Mobil 1 is good, but there are better synthetics at the same price. Especially with the EPA stripping most of the good zinc anti wear additives out of passenger car motor oils.

The best synthetic/price/additive pack you could use is probably Shell Rotella t6 5w40, but that MAY void your warranty.

I've got a better solution.....and a sticker should fit too.

No promises but if someone with a non Z51 cap will post pictures from different angles of their oil cap, I'll do my best to find a part number for those.
Thanks for thinking of us non-Z51 owners. Here are some photos of a wet sump oil cap.

I have a 2014 Z51, so I can't help with the non dry sump models.
In the first four pictures the left cap is the stock Z51 cap, the center cap is FC215 12583570, the right cap (still in bag) is FC221 12593356.
Both are identical to the stock cap except they both say "Mobil 1". FC215 has a blue rubber gasket just like the stock cap (It's shinier than the stock cap cause I lubed it for installation). FC221 has a gray rubber gasket. Either one will fit. Hope this helps someone.
Just ordered one... thanks.

I contacted Mobil, and they said they'd send me a set, but that was a month or more ago and I haven't seen anything.
