Trying to buy a Mobil1 cap can only find them for LS2/3

Why on earth did GM put a DEXOS cap when they could have put a MOBIL 1 cap on them. I think it confuses these lowly oil changers at dealers.

Per their website these are for dry sump (Z51) only.

These are nice looking caps I would order one in a second if they had one that fit a base C7.

Maybe someone from Corvette Mods will read this??????

My LS7 (dry sump) cap is on my LS3 (wet sump), and my new LS7 cap is on my LT1 (dry sump).

The part numbers are different, but the cap is the same.

However they only fit the dry sump cars. My mod below works fine for me!

If that's true, I wonder why my LS7 cap fits my LS3 (which is wet sump)?

Actually what I was trying to demonstrate is the cap will FIT the Z51 2014/2015 dry sump LT1.
I have a 2007 Solstice 4 Cyl 2.0 turbo motor as listed on the web site.(see picture)

I have included 3 pictures.
The 1st picture is of the Mobile 1 oil cap on my Pontiac Solstice 4 Cyl 2.0 turbo LNF motor.
The 2nd picture is of the same Mobil 1 oil cap now in my 2015 Z51 LT1 motor.
The 3rd picture is of the bottom of both oil caps, the on the left is the one from the 2.0 motor the one on the right is from the LT1.
The only difference is the bottom of the cap, the rubber seal and the locking mechanism are identical.
I wish I had a base car to check but do not.
I will be ordering the Mobil 1 oil cap from GMPARTSGIANT today to replace the one on the 2015 Stingray.

Unfortunately I can confirm that p/n 12593356 that others are using on Z51's will not fit on the base stingray.


I can also confirm that p/n 12583570 which apparently also fits the Z51 will not fit on a base Stingray either.

I now have one of each to send back.

Sorry to see it does not fit the base engine.
The Mobil 1 sticker for now may help you guys with the base Stingray.

I gave up thats why I did what I did. Im sure once they run out of the Dexos ones they will start using new Mobil-1 caps that we will be able to order it in the future.

Replaced mine with ls3 mobile one cap
