Are clear bras really worth it???
Just looking for general opinions on clear bras. I have never done it before and never had any real damage to my cars. It's also not a car show car but a fun road trip car. Do you guys think doing these are worth it or not so much

If you take pride in your vehicle and want to retain as much of its used value as possible, then yes

If road rash on the car bothers you then do it. Had it added to my C7 last March. After 10,000 miles not a single issue on the front of car. By 50K miles on my C5 I had to have it repainted. Used Speed Lingerie colored covers in past to help but am a believer in XPEL Ultimate now. Planning to have it added to wife's C6Z06. Film even held up to deer meat last week when I hit a deer carcass dead center. Meat stuck to it but cleaned up without any signs of damage.

Did one once, never again. It was a waste of money in my opinion. They seem to be more invisible on darker colors, but on white not so much. You could always see the edges and after about a year it would start to yellow. I had the lifetime warranty Venture Shield so at least the replacements were free.

We do a lot of back road cruises and our previous C6 front end, mirrors and headlights looked like they had been shotgun blasted umpteen times. So, we just got our C7's nose, front fenders, mirrors and 1/2 hood covered with Expel Ultimate. Cost was less than $700. I think most important thing to consider is to hire someone that is well recommended. I didn't once and it was like the film job from hell.

I would. It keep the debris from chipping the paint

I am fixing my chips in the garage now before clear bra install . 500 mile drive on interstate and already have about 15 chips on front end/splitter which is insane
Deffinately get it the damn paints of today are so weak

I'm my opinion, no, not worth it. No matter how good the installer I can always tell when a film is used. In many cases they are just as expensive as a repaint. Most I have seen have bubbles and while they are chip resistant, you can still get a chip if it hits hard enough and then it can't be touched up.
YMMV but no film for my cars.

I think it really depends on where you live and how you use your vehicle. Aesthetically, I personally have a strong dislike for them when you can see an edge. You mentioned road trips - you should probably strongly consider getting one. I'll never drive my Corvette unless the weather and roads are pristine. I also won't take it overnight anywhere on a trip - don't want to and don't need to. I choose to not have a clear bra. I put 7,000 miles on my last Corvette over 6 years and never had a chip. ~1200 miles on the C7 in one year and no chips.

My 08 never had a film and in 6 years, not one chip. Of course I had so many coats of Zaino on it any bugs wiped away easily.
I drove my 08 to Ft. Lauderdale twice via I95 from PA all the way. A lot has to do with keeping a good distance behind other cars and especially trucks.
I'm just not a fan of Corvette condums

I had front bumper, full hood, front fenders, rear fenders, rocker panels, headlights, mirrors, roof, spoiler & A pillars done. Yes it was expensive but I don't regret it one bit, nor have any issues after it being my DD for 10K miles. My C5 had to be completely repainted as the Magnetic Red II Tintcoat paint could not be matched for just a bumper and lower hood repaint due to road rash. That cost more than film and much bigger headache.
Film was just over $2K. Well worth it on a $70K car for piece of mind. It's on white and is fine. Yep I'm a bit OCD too. Not for everyone, is for ME and that's why I did nearly the entire car. My only regret is not doing something to my pitted windshield.

I had my bumper,1/2 of the hood, mirrors, headlights and edge of doors covered in clear film for $700.A couple of things to be aware of,have it installed in warm weather by a good installer who stands by their work if a problem with air bubbles should come up.
When waxing the car watch the edge of the film with wax build up it will show the ends,
get a good detailing brush or try and keep wax away from the edge it will be noticeable.
and yes I did the quarter panels behind the wheels myself.

Not worth it to me do not like the look. Plus you pay $500-700 or more and then start worrying about damage to the film. Had my 2008 Vette for over 5 years and got one chip on it. Bought the drcolorchip kit and took care of it.
