"son 21, daughter 18" - There is the issue. Don't ask me how I know....

It may pay to check around as insurance premiums can vary widely on drivers.

My insurance declined to cover the C7 with my 23YO Daughter and 25 YO Son on our policy. Trying to save them some money, but finally had to remove them both from my policy to get the Vette covered with my current insurance provider.

Suggest you look at removing the 18 YO from your policy - that may solve your pricing issue.

I have USAA and their auto insurance rates usually can't be beat. I'm thinking like others that your youthful drivers are really jacking up your rates. Is there a way to exclude them from the MB or the C7? It certainly wouldn't hurt to ask. Also, is the C7 used more for pleasure? If so, I'd make sure the mileage limits on the car are in one with what you're actually driving. If all of the above suggestions fail, I'd check with the corvete museum insurance NCM. It seems to be lower for many folks. You're definitely paying too much to insure the C7.

I have GEICO for all 3 of my cars.. and my Corvette with the Z51 option has a total 6 month premium: $387.60. ($100K/$300K + $500 DED).

I bought my car in October and I just renewed in December and my insurance did not go up.

I got a quote from USAA prior to buying the car because so many tout how great their insurance is. Their quote was $324.74 per month for 3 of my cars which was $130/month more than what I pay with GEICO.

Maybe GEICO will increase my insurance during the next billing cycle but for now.. my insurance is reasonable.

GEICO
2015 Chevrolet 2500HD LTZ 4x4 $274
2015 Mercedes C300 4Matic (wife) $303
2014 Chevrolet C7 $343

6 month total: $920

I switched FROM State Farm, who I was with (same agent) for 20 years....then he retired. Wasn't feeling the new guy, switched my homeowners to GEICO (Liberty Mutual) as well. Pricing is identical between the two for me....

Default Insurance rates

I think it is very hard to get comparable rates from each other here on the forum. Why? There are huge differences from state to state and even locations within these states.
Others are garaged on not garaged, previous accidents, deductible, amount of coverage, combined with household insurance, umbrella coverage etc.
The list of items that shapes rates go on and on.
You never know how good your insurer is until you have a claim. Found that out with S---- F--m.
We had a big storm in Virginia in our neighborhood and S F and U--A both were sued by homeowners. The adjuster said that one year one company could be very good and the next not so much.
We have Farm Bureau here in East Tennessee and they were great on hail damage for the car and house. Many of these companies are mutual so their rates can change a great deal if they have a lot of claims in a given year. I am just sayin

\

And most people don't realize that credit score is also a factor in the price you pay.

Of course my C7 is the most expensive. Here's the 6 month cost breakdown for our family coverage of 4 of us, Wife & I, both 50, son 21, daughter 18:
$494.05 2012 Mercedes ML SUV
$353.15 2013 Jeep Wrangler
$384.82 2014 Ford Fusion
$835.92 2014 Corvette conv

Thus, 6 MONTH PREMIUM is $2067.94, or over $4100 for annual cost for 4 of us for 4 vehicles.

We also has home, flood, high value item insurance policies with USAA & do get approx $500 annual dividend distributions back at year end. Been a member for almost 30 years now, & hasn't shopped around lately.

I know there many many other factors involved,
But do you think the numbers above are reasonable?
Or should I start to shop around...?
Any other companies better/cheaper than USAA?

Thanks,

Had Farm Bureau but changed to USAA because of rate increases from FB. (FB was great and I had a wonderful agent). Checked three other insurance companies and USAA quoted me the highest at over $700 for a 6 month premium on my 2015 Z51. I have a 19 year old son in college 3 hours away. He has his own vehicle. I own five vehicles (the vette, 09 Volvo, 06 Dodge Cummins diesel quad cab 4x4, 05 Honda civic and 98 Honda CRV). All but one low mileage as I have a work vehicle. USAA added approximately $150 to $200 increase on every car BUT the one my son drives. They were, however, $150 cheaper than Farm Bureau on the CRV. No tickets, no accidents, high credit score... Liberty Mutual quoted the vette at $1,100 a year and the other vehicles were also very reasonable. I will check AARP but will prob switch to LM the first year, but anticipate switching again year two as I'm fairly certain LM will jack my premiums up the following year...

Not sure on the numbers, but I can tell that my c7 was $4 more a month than my c6 for full coverage.

Hard to compare because there are so many factors in a rate.

Default insurance rates

Just got my bill yesterday from National General. I have my home and car insured by them. Just my wife and I in our 60's. 3 cars. A 1991 saturn no collision 117.00, a 2009 saturn aura 235.00 and my 14 c7 z51 209.00. Coverage is 250k-500k. Have on star diagnostic service which lets them know annual mileage 4900 miles. I was very happy.

I've been with USAA for over 20 years and when we recently bought a house the builder also offered us auto insurance bundled with their folks. Much cheaper than USAA but I didn't switch because in the insurance business you really do get what you pay for. I have not heard many stories of people that have been done wrong by USAA, but I have from others with "cheaper" insurance. Prices seem in line with what I pay as well.
