Default Dropped off my car for service on the flickering screen

Not feeling good about the service rep that greeted me. He took the info and he took me inside to get the loaner paperwork going. Apparently he then went out and tossed the fob onto the driver's seat and closed the door...
So a few minutes later he come in and tells me that my car is locked in the service drop-off area with the "key" inside. Normally I come by myself, but my wife decided to come along this time and she had her fob. I wonder what they would have done if the second fob wasn't there since I live 30 miles from the dealer.

Oh well, no damage and if they actually fix the screen I'll be happy...

Does the car lock the door when the fob is inside? my volt and infitniti wont. even if the key is in the trunk.

They could have called onstar and get it unlocked that way probably

fYI sometimes when both fobs are near the car at the same time the car reads the fob that's outside the car and the keys can get locked in.

The OnStar app can unlock the car if necessary. Always a good backup if you have it. YMMV.

Hope you reset your tripmeters or recorded the mileage. Joyriding is epidemic.

How/when the door locks is configurable on the '14.
Mine is set to chirp the horn 3x to let you know the key is inside.
Door will not lock.

tell me more about the flickering screen, mine does the same thing, then goes blank but then comes back on, normal and it only does this once in a while......don't know if it's worth sending it to the dealer right now.

Replaced mine three weeks ago… Yes it just gets worse it never gets better until it's finally all black
it was early models of 2014 something to do with the connector at the bottom

but not from going up and down

Takes two visits .....to clear it up
one for them to diagnose it and order it

and second to put it in

about an hour or hour and a half all warranty

so I'm not the only one.......great, thanks for the info.

I'll just wait until it gets unbearable, right now it's not worth them fiddling around in there.

Mine is set to chirp 3 times as well but mine does lock if you don't open the door in 8 seconds or so. I like never having to worry about remembering to lock it.

On the flicker, I did take a video with my phone, without that I doubt they would have done anything. But even though it has worked perfectly every time they have seen it, they decided to replace the screen anyway. Unfortunately they have to have one ordered so I won't know the result until next year...

Took me 4 visits . Don't let them tell you it's just a software update . It will not work . Finally fixed it with a new screen . Typical GM , they get it right , eventually . No problem once the new screen goes in . Good luck .....

There is an early service bulletin like last nov i think. But screen not avail until 2/14. They no longer are "hunting" for this problem. The procedure is 2 visits:
1. Diagnose and apply applicable updates, test for fix, failing test, order screen
2. Come in and they replace screen.

If you can shoot a phone video, do it.

Video the screen when it flickers because it is an intermittent issue . Bring it in and show them the video and tell them they need to order you a new screen . I am sure they will have to at least look at it but the only thing that fixed it for me was a new screen . This is a common problem and your dealer no matter how inefficient should be able to do the swap in a jiffy . Good luck .....

Update. It took the dealer a week (over New Years) to get the part shipped in and a couple hours to install it. So far so good. Stable as a rock. They did the change based on my phone video without ever seeing the screen flickering, which was amazing to me. The service guy said mine was the 5th one they've swapped out, so I guess they needed no proof.

Only problem was they seemed to take the opportunity to change EVERY setting I had, not only on the Infotainment screen but also the steering wheel controlled displays and they left the seat so far forward that I couldn't even get in the car. (How hard is it to press the No.1 memory button?!) So good vehicle service but bad customer service...

Does this or any functionality still work after the OnStar trial period expires?

My screen was replaced. My dealer originally was going to try a software fix, but then said GM was recommending replacement. No problems since replacement.
