Intro from a first time Vette owner.
Hello all,
I wanted to introduce myself and say hello. My name is Bruce and I'm a 40 year old with 5 kids. I'm new to GM and the Corvette, but I couldn't be happier. Growing up I was a Ford muscle car kind of guy and previously maxed out with a 2003 SVT Cobra. We started having kids and I moved onto sports sedans, but I always felt like a chump for it. I recently droove a Hyundai Equss (430HP) and it was nice, but I still had that longing for something sportier. For months I was pretty close to getting a Porsche Panamara and just never pulled the trigger. I have 5 kids from 7 months to 9 years old and always assumed it would be to hard to have a sports car as a daily driver.
Earlier this year I bought the wife a Suburban to haul the kids and discovered I was no longer driving the kids in my car. Just before Thanksgiving my wife was getting ready to take her truck in for an oil change when I took the keys and said I'd do it. I went in, dropped it off and immediately went to sales to test drive a vette. They said no and I said I can't buy a car I have never driven before. I had no previous knowledge to pull from. A Cobra is not a vette. The guy gave in and an hour later I owned my first vette (2015). My wife was not amused, but she owned me a solid. We had a deal that she would get a big house and I would get the Porsche I always wanted. I told her we we're even and she said deal.
That's how I came to own this:
I've been lurking on the forums for a couple weeks and I plan to start posting a lot more now that I've said hello. I have 2k miles on my new daily driver and I am still insanely happy. My only regret was not realizing the value in board dealers. I got a good deal, but I'm sure one of the national dealers here could have done better. I'll remember that when I'm ready for a Z06.

Very nice, I love the wheel and color combination! I am still in my C6 Z06 and cannot decide between a Stingray or a ZR1. Congrats!

I'm amazed that I spent $41 to fill up, that'll last about 6 days (getting 24mpg) and I still go very fast. I some times think the Stingray is the worlds best kept secret.

Welcome to the world or more like the Corvette Lifestyle. You find most Corvette people are similar to the Mustang folks, very passionate about their cars. I am sure by now you have realized what all the hupla is about for the C7s, and there is now car built quite like the C7. Many good people on this board, and sometimes we get some trolls, but for the most part you can relay on the information you received from this board.
Again welcome and many miles of smiles for the future.

Thanks and nice to meet you. I wanted to wait for the Z06 or the ZR1, but as a new buyer I decided I needed to grow with the experience. Since I commute with my car, thought it best to start with the Stingray.

But for the power it puts out along with the highway cruising, it is second to none!
I had my Z06 at the track a few weekends ago through 4 sessions I averaged 7 miles a gallon, LOL. But on the way home (about an hour drive) I averaged almost 25. Truly amazing machines.
