Daytona Sunrise Orange

Here's mine, it will also be getting the stinger hood stripe and of course the Z06 splitter. I did the Stage 1 aero and adding new splitter and side skirts aftermarket. I did the dark gray 2lz interior because I wanted the two-tone and am custom ordering new seat skins that will also be two-tone. I did the carbon fiber dash (really looks nice in person). I do NOT recommend kalahari interior on this color, I think the tan it too orange against the orange paint personally. So that leaves black or dark gray. I like the dark gray wheels vs black as it breaks up the tire/wheel profile a bit. Chrome and pearl nickle looked too hard to clean on these Z wheels :-)

I think, just like any color, there are going to be lovers and haters. It's really going to be a very personal choice. I know my Inferno Orange was very popular at shows. If you want to be a bit different, go orange, if you want to blend in with the crowd, go white, black or gray. Orange will probably be a low-production number and limited time runs, so resale should be better on the color because it will be more unique. The GM oranges definitely need sunlight to really look nice, otherwise, they get a weird color tone to them. The same was true of the Inferno Orange which took on a muddled red look in twilight or heavy cloud cover, but shown and glowed like mad in the sunlight. This Daytona Sunrise will do the same thing, the brighter the sun, the oranger it looks. The grayer the day, the more you get a muddled maroon appearance to the car.

I ordered the DSOM without seeing one first. I am very happy with my choice. The color changes from day to night but the same thing happens with my JSB C6. I got the Brownstone/suede interior and it looks great with the orange. I understand that Brownstone is not available on the Z06 and I do not know why GM makes such restrictions. Yes it is not for everyone but I like it.

Rick,
Go to a dealer that has a DSOM in stock to best understand the colors. I have seen pictures all over the map as the variations in cameras, white balance, monitors, etc can wreak havoc on your perception of the actual color on the car. Go to the GM website and do a search of local dealerships that might have the color(s) you might be interested in in stock. Go look in person. You won't be sorry that you did.

I'm considering a Z51 3LT convertible in DSOM, really not a fan of black interior though. Like the chrome wheels, but stuck on interior and top color. I know, an easy issue to overcome, just make a decision.

This may be old news; I have not searched recent DSOM threads. I had a DSOM C6 and loved the color. But DSOM then stood for Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic. It always seemed to me like Chevy was a bit geographically challenged in picking that name since Daytona is on Florida’s east coast, and hence, the sun would rise over the water, not set over it. I didn’t notice it until this thread, but with the new DSOM, they have corrected their geographical transgressions, and it stands for Sunrise, not Sunset. But it’s apparently not the same color as the C6 DSOM. When I saw that the name had changed from Sunset to Sunrise, I looked up paint codes. The new DSOM paint code is different, WA908, where the C6 was WA633. I haven’t seen one of the new ones in person. Will be interesting to see if I like it as well as my 2005 DSOM C6.

One other consideration. Think about the color with the interior. You want to look at it together. Some consider the Orange to "go" with a limited interior color set.
