Default GT vs. Competition Seat-side bolsters

I never considered getting the competition seats but I went to a local dealer who had a C7 on the floor with competition seats. I sat in them and fell in love with how the side bolsters wrapped around my body- I just like that feel and it reminded me of my old 95 BMW 540i 6 spd which had pronounced bolsters which I really liked.

My question is--while I realize the GT seats do not have as pronounced bolsters as the comp seat, do the bolsters on the GT seat go in to give you somewhat of a similar feeling of being secure.

I am 5'9 150 so not a big guy and the comp seats really felt good around my sides-hoping for somewhat of a similar feeling with the GT seats at $1995 less.

I'm 5'8" and 155 lbs so about your size. I haven't sat in the competition seats so can't compare to them, but I can tell you that the seats in mine have much larger bolsters on both the seat bottom and back than my C6 had. They hold you in place very well.

My two previous cars had Recaro seats and I'm happy with the C7 GT seats; comfy for long roadtrips too.

You probably should find a C-7 with standard seats and try the seats. My standard C-7 seats are much better than my C-6 seats and the C-7 seats will definitely hold you in place.

I went with the comp seats on mine. While I think the GT seats are great, the comp seats do offer better support (and I'm a much bigger than you). First time I sat in them I knew I had to have them. They also were very comfortable on the single road trip (650 ish miles) that I've taken thus far.

Here's my honest advice. Don't you dare order either till you've tried both. You have no excuse not to now that the car is not all that hard to find. In fact finding one with gt seats should be easier than the other way around. It's just not worth it having to live with regret for the years you're going to with the car. For what it's worth I sat in both and went with comp seats. 5' 11 220lbs and 7,000 miles. Love those seats. Good luck.

Default seats

Tried both a Fellows school and there is a difference in feel. Both will perform well unless you are racing only and then the completion would probably work better. The competition seats look better but if you have a convertible the C.F backs do not show so you lose some of the effect. Should not be a deal breaker either way.

Thanks all for the feedback. I will have to find a local dealer with a vette on the showroom with GT seats and fool around with the bolsters. I have already shown my face in the showrooms of the local dealers and the salesmen have given me their card, but that won't stop me.
When I am ready, I will use a forum dealer and not the locals.

I am 5'-9" and weigh 160 pounds, so we are about the same size.

I have a 1LT interior with the GT seats. Since I have a 1LT interior my the bolsters are not adjustable. But they the seats fit me perfectly. The seats are better than what I thought they would be.

This is really, really good advice. Finally was able to sit in one with the competition seats and they felt more comfortable to me. And I like the appearance better as well.

I was early enough in the order process that they could run a change no sweat.
