What is so great about the HUD?
I was just reading through a thread about 1LT vs 2LT and a lot of people were saying they can't live without the HUD. I ordered a 1LT since the only 2LT option that was of interest to me was the seat upgrade. Paying an extra $4K plus for upgraded seats did not seem worth it to me. I don't look at the car as an investment since I plan to put a ton of miles on this one too so resale value was also not important.
I have never driven a car with the HUD and the first thing I thought of was if you get stopped for speeding how can you tell the cop you didn't know how fast you were going? I have never been stopped for speed but I know I will eventually and I know my husband will not let me hear the end of it.

Be it a C6 or C7, the only part of 2LT I really like is the HUD. It is very nice to have when on the track. If you've never had it, you obviously can't miss it, but once you're used to it, it'd be hard not to have. It's not worth 4 grand though IMO.
It should be a stand alone option available with 1LT

My C6 was a 2LT and so I didn't have HUD. I ordered a 2Lt C7 for the driver seat lumbar adjustment in particular. Interestingly, I bought a 3LT before my ordered car arrived at the dealership. While I thought HUD was superfluous, I now miss it in my Porsche and GMC. I love it and hardly ever look at the dash display.

i also dont see any value in HUD, i have been auto x'ing/ tracking sence 1990 and my first HUD car was a 2000 hardtop( pre-z06) when asked how did i like HUD after tracking/autocrossing i said are you kidding? my eyes never left the track-cones-braking points, ect. I LOOK TO WHERE I WANT THE CAR to go. no where else. sense 2000 i have had 3 more cars with it and never turn it on except to show it when the car is sitting parked!! I VERY HAPPY GM is letting all of us get a 2015 1lt with nav(PRD) without having to get stuck with HUD,( not) hot seats, ect. i just traded a 2014 vert 3lt i knew the day i picked it up i was not keeping, i really wanted a 8a when c7 came out, i put up with a 2014 vert 3lt non-51 6a knowing the car of my dreams was only one year away( its at order code 3300 right now) 2015 vert z51 8a 1lt PDR is MY DREAM CAR, and the only thing i will miss off a 2/3/lt is the CARGO NET( not kidding) Peace out

I could never put up with not having the 2LT and all the other goodies that go with it, including HUD. I would miss not having the data right in front of my eyes while driving. On the street taking my eyes off the road every singe time I wanted to see all the data would be inconvenient. This is my 2nd Corvette, both with 2LT.
...not been pulled over for speeding in over 15 years, but almost positive cops don't ask drivers if they have HUD. ..and probably no one is stupid enough to volunteer to a cop they have a HUD and ignored it while speeding. If anyone IS this dumb, they deserve to be fined.

A novelty unless you race IMO.
If you have never had a car with a HUD, you'll never miss it.
GM is smart to package option like they do. If Ala carte options for Vented seats, HUD, 10 speaker Bose, etc., few people would be opting out of the 1LT if they could "cherry pick" the one or two items they want in the next model up.

Track the car just once and you'll know why it's a BIG deal
On the street the base Stingray's gauges are perfect and to be honest the HUD isn't that necessary.

the "why _____ that's on a 2LT/3LT" questions always come from someone who bought a 1LT....
never really understood that..are you mad? trying to justify why you didn't?
enjoy you car and let those who bought something diff enjoy theirs as well...it's all good...

The ugly skull cap design of the dash board to hide the hud stinks!
Worthless gimmick to appease the boy racer crowd. Real race cars don't had them!

You can live without a HUD, but .........
Before my C7 I've never owned a car with a HUD. I always thought it a novelty. Going on 71 years next month and the only HUD I'd experienced was in aircraft.
Then I ordered Lola with 2LT and she came in a year ago last Oct. The HUD still amazes me with how much I rely on it now. I'm usually in sport mode where it also shows the RPM's but the speed is the big number I enjoy seeing right in my line of sight. Then if you use the NAV to plan a route, it's all up there as well. The turn by turn along with the decreasing distance bar is really helpful and pretty kool at the same time . We bought the Stingray for what it is and what we can do with high technology, so I'm putting it to good use .
BTW, I don't track my car in competition.

Two of my Vettes have had HUD, and I liked having it.
When I ordered my '14 I wanted HUD but did not want to pay the extra $4,300 for the 2LT package since all I really wanted out of that package was HUD and the adjustable seats. And those two features were not that important to me.
I ordered my car with the 1LT package and have not missed having a HUD.

Gotta take your eyes off the "data" to see the road, road signs and traffic!
IMO!
Hud for street driving equal super gimmick! 7 Corvette's, Own 2 right now with hud and I don't turn it on. Annoying at best!

Love my HUD. It is one of the options I wish my other cars have. I lower my steering wheel a lot when I drive, sometimes the wheel is in line with the dashboard. The Hud allows me 1 look to see everything I need without having to look under the steering wheel.

It is what floats your boat that counts. I went with the 2LT because of all the goodies (power seats, radio upgrade, heated/cooled seats, more leather, HUD), the things I feel a $50,000+ car should have. $4,000 value? it is to me. The HUD is nice, however with the new DIC presentation not the must have of prior model years. I love the power seats, I move them around all the time during the drive, use the memory position more as a zero reference position. It amazes me when I see people purchasing Z51 and performance exhaust over the 2LT option.

A gimmick/toy to play with. If you track your Vette, probably useful. Street driving, really no practical use for it. I haven't turned my HUD on in over three years. Don't miss it. Also, if you are waiting for a stand alone option, don't hold your breath. GM uses the availability of HUD to get buyer's to "upgrade" to the more expensive option package.
