Why did you buy your Stingray?

This is particularly true if you're my age....70.
And, I'm addicted to new Corvette's. Since 2008 I've had a 2008 Z51 coupe, a 2009 Callaway SC580, a 2010 ZR1, a 2011 Callaway SC606, a 2014 Premier Edition C7, and now a C7 Z51 convertible.
I've also had in the used dept. a C2 1966 Roadster, a C4 1989 triple black convertible, and a 2009 C6 coupe.
And that's the way it is.

Was actually looking for a mint low miles C5 in 2012, (don't like the C6) then I attended the 2013 North American International Auto Show and saw the C7 and fell in love.
Love the design, the performance, the ride.

first was an old c4 that I had to fix up, then a new C6 and was going to keep it for a while but could not hold out - preparing to retire in next few months so wanted to go out with a new truck and C7
so now I am ready for retirement

In high school I rode in a 1967 427/435 hp Coupe and a Corvette was the only sports car I ever wanted since then.
After retiring and getting divorced the same year I ordered a 2002 Z51 Coupe. After seeing the C7 I had to have one. It's the best Corvette ever.

I owned a 2008 Porsche C4S. I went to the Porsche Dealer and priced a 2014 Porsche C4S with similar equipment. To be honest, I was a little put back with the increase in price. This was prior to he announcement of the C7. I was driving home from the Porsche dealership and a close friend of mine who owns a large GM dealership called me. He had been trying to get me out of Porsches and into a Vette for many years. He said he had a "rough" idea on what the new Corvettes would look like and suggested this is the generation of Corvettes that I would love. He shared a few more thoughts on what he thought the C7 would be like. I trust this guy. The next day I called and gave hime my CC# and was #2 on his list. He was right!! I love my Stingray. I had many problems getting my configuration built, but with the help of a fellow board member, the dealer was able to get the allocation we needed. Don't get me wrong, I still love Porsches, but the Stingray is one incredible automobile. I received the car in late 2014. My wife called it he paparazzi car....that is how she felt when we drove it.

Well, OK. I'm probably going to catch some flak for this but here goes.
First, my background with Corvettes. Although my very cool car-dealership-owner-next-door-neighbor brought home a yellow C2 convertible 4-speed and let me drive it around the block when I was 15 and on my learner's permit (that was major cool! ), it became apparent through the years that Corvettes were, with the exception of the intermittent Grand Sports, ZR-1s, and Z06's, more of a grand tourer than a "sports car."
I haven't been without a subscription to either R&T, C&D, Automobile, etc., in decades. I would always read the first drives, test drives, and comparison tests of 'Vettes and every time the question would be, "Can the new Corvette hang with the Europeans?" and the answer - time and time again - would be "Yes, but..." The "But" would usually be one standout fault - fading brakes, marginal handling, substandard interior, just not that fun to spank.
So the Corvette always seemed to me to be unrealized potential - never quite on par with the best in class, always a couple of issues away. The Corvette was never an aspirational vehicle for me in and of itself.
My opinion changed when the C7 was introduced.
With the C7 the consensus seems to be that there are no "Buts." Even the base Stingray is a proper sports car that can be optioned up to whatever level of handling performance and personal luxury a buyer desires. The Z06 is a monster and the newly introduced Grand Sport hits my personal sweet spot of being handling-focused and very quick - an American-made true sporting car.
And my Grand Sport currently sits in the back parking lot of the Bowling Green assembly plant awaiting transportation!

Same here. Except my son who devours car magazines challenged me to show him a category where the Porsche beat the Corvette. So I bought the the 'logical' man's car.

"PURE IMPULSE"......Always wanted a Vette and when my wife made me pull into the dealer, I sat in the '15 Z51 and I started it in the showroom, BOOM. Pulled out the checkbook and drove it home. Cannot wipe the smile off my face even today, as for my wife, she is still sorry she made me stop and look.

I have always liked Corvettes and disliked anyone who didnt. Never quite enough styling though to push me over until the C7 models came out. Drooled for a couple years then remembered a golden rule. You cant take it with you. To beat is with any other car takes another $25-$50 thousand. To get the same looks takes $100k more. Man what a blast these Corvettes are. All about fun.

Sitting here getting ready to start the Thanksgiving holiday I was reading some posts on the forum. Got me to thinking about why I bought a new Stingray, which I am happily waiting for.
Reasons:
1) Value
2) Cool factor
3) Rock star status
4) Wow factor
5) I like the attention
6) It is a bit of individuality
7) I have always been a bit of a rebel
8) forgot to add...Best looking Corvette ever....as said by 1SG Ret.
These are in no particular order but are all of about equal merit in my buying the car. How about the rest of you guys and gals?

We purchased the '14 coupe because we liked the new C7 body style. We bought the '16 convertible because my wife wanted to upgrade from her '06. On the '17 GS, we jumped at the opportunity for an early allocation. We love them all.

I loved the round-the-corners performance of my 2014 Camaro, but the interior was very lacking, especially coming from a HEMI Charger (which still has more luxury than any car I've driven....)
I ordered a 6th gen Camaro, and waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, sick of waiting, and delivery delays, I called up the dealer and told him I didn't want it any more.
Found a Premiere Edition Corvette with 13k miles for less than the Camaro I had on order, and decided to go that way.
Buying used also let me hop into engine mods quicker than I would have with a car with a brand-new warranty.
