Default Service Rear Axle

Last Friday, I was driving my 2014 Z51 in high 30 degree weather, and received a warning message that said "service rear axle." The warning message disappeared pretty quickly and has not appeared since. I spoke with a service advisor at the dealership where I purchased the car, and he said that 2014 model year with Z51 electronic limited slip had a service bulletin issued, not a recall. It seems that there may be a lose connector. He said that it was not dangerous to drive the car, and I'm scheduled for a service appointment on 12/3. I thought you might want to know this as there is no service bulletins posted on the Chevrolet owner's website nor on OnStar. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Could be a number of things. Mine was caused by a loose battery terminal. Do a quick check before you bring it in.

I had the same service message on my 2014 3LT Z51 a week after I bought it with 2700 miles. Mine turned out to be a bad differential clutch pump. Took the dealer a week to trouble shoot the issue and even contacted GM Engineering. Since then...haven't had any problems.

Default 2014 2LT A6 - 6,000 miles

Yesterday I went to take the car for a drive and opened the garage door to a strong smell of what I believe was transmission fluid and a small puddle on the floor directly under the rear end (translucent with a slight gray appearance). No warning message upon start up so I think I caught it early. I brought the car in to the dealer and after their initial inspection determined it required axle seals which will take a day or two for parts. Will update post as I know more.

Update 12/05/2014
Service Ticket: Leaking Axle Seal 3030090 1.2 Right, and Leaking Axle Seal 30300110 1.2 Left
Parts Replaced: 19301560 SL-N-Seal, 88862624 N-Fluid

Just experienced "service rear axle". A connector was not firmly seated....fixed under warranty.

thanks for that information but when I was driving my 2016 corvette, 4 difference times, when the service rear axle light comes on the car shut down for about 5 seconds and then starts back up. The last time it started to shake just a little. 2 times I was doing about 70mph and it shut down for a couple of seconds then started back up, that's very dangerous.
