Magnetic ride vs PDR
Question guys and gals, dollar for dollar which is the better option to get, MSRC or PDR? As the cost is the same which would you prefer and why? The wife and I are getting ready to pull the trigger and your input is greatly appreciated. Thanks for you time and options.

Two completely different options. What are you going to use this car for? If you are driving around the country side or taking road trips, then get navigation (includes PDR) and probably the base. If you are going to track the car, get the Z51 with mag ride.

I like the mag ride and the nav is nice, I can tell the difference in the shock settings. I can feel the the bumps in the road with track and can go to touring and not feel a thing so the mag ride works on the street as well.
Are you buying z51, if not mag ride is not available to you.
I was out looking for a business and drove past the road several times turned on nav put address in and wham there was my turn.
On another note the heated and cooled seats are great 2 or 3LT option required. Love the cool part in Atlanta during the summer.

So far so good. I am going to get Z51 and I have used On Star for directions and had good success with it. Don't care about the PDR as I won't be tracking it. For one thing age is a factor, I still drive pretty well, but at 70 I don't feel the need to drive " ***** to the walls ", so driving in the hill country near Austin will be the extent of my spirited driving. I had mag ride in my C5 but it has been several years since and I have kind of forgotten how it was. I also know that that option(mag ride) has been upgraded significantly. I guess my real concern would be which would I use more?
Just trying to gather as much info as I can get here. Test drive in this area is out of the question. Also know that if I get 3lt that it comes with nav and PDR, but to keep with in our budget it is either 3lt base with NPP and Zf1 option or 2lt Z51 with Mag Ride. At supplier discount the price is almost the same.
I love my 09 with Z51 and really like the idea of larger brakes and extra cooling for the e-dif, especially here in Texas where the summers are hot.
Please keep the info coming, thanks.

I just picked up a Z51 2LT w/ Mag Ride and PDR. IMO, just from putting 50 miles on the car, you can change the characteristics so drastically from tour/sport/track that i find myself constantly using it (and thereby adjusting mag ride settings). I don't plan on tracking the car, PDR IMO doesn't bring anything to the driving characteristics of the car - its just a gee wiz gadget!

For your driving, no reason to get Z51 package. I had magnetic ride (F55) on my C6. The cost of Z51 was prohibitive so went base with Navigation. With the new stiffer frame mag ride isn't needed, have not missed it on my C7. Go with Navigation.

I'd go with the mag ride. That option ties every thing together. Changing modes with the mag ride option alters the entire feel of the car. Throttle response, steering response, rear end, trans shift points (auto), exhaust sound and "Shock Response". If you are going Z51 then I highly recommend doing the full package. Your phone can do nav when you need it, but it won't make the car ride better. If you don't need the Z51 package then do the 3LT package. This gets you the nav and better interior, nicer highway trips.

Mag ride over nav by far if choosing one or the other. You will notice the mag ride every day. It transforms the character of the car with each driving mode. IMO, guessing what mag ride would do in a C7 based on what it did in a C6 is selling it short. It's significantly upgraded tech and vehicle integration in the C7.
I leave mine in Touring most of the time because the ride is shockingly good for what you'd expect. Sport really tightens things up, but gets pitchy on concrete highways around here but perfectly smooth in Touring. The nav is comically poor IMO, mostly in its speed and responsiveness. Most commands are 1-2 second delay which is unacceptable in today's technology, and also when compared to other OEM's nav. At $795 in 2014 it was already marginal, at $1795 in 2015 it is so not worth it if the PDR will go unused.

Magnetic ride.....I'm not sure what I'd use the PDR for anyway.

I bought 1lt non mag Z51. Handles great since they put a great shock
on it. Rides perfect in all conditions. I have the Mag ride in my ZR1.
I really like the non mag Z51. The mag ride had an advantage on the C5 and C6 years ago when the Z51. Along with the other GM shocks were crap. The new Z51 shock is Bilsteins best effort for a factory car.
This one fantastic shock which makes the Z51 ride and handle fantastic. I don't think you need the Mag ride or the PDR.

Mag Ride, no question. The mag ride you can appreciate everyday you drive. The PDR, not so much.
