Default First Free Dealer Oil Change........A+

My dealer just performed my first oil change and I could have not done a better job. 4050 miles and oil life at 45%. Only question ask was did I want GM dexos1 or Mobil 1 full synthetic. (Mobil 1, of course)He offers Mobil 1 to all new Corvette or Camaro owners at no cost. Watched the whole process including the "complete care" inspection. Trusted dealership!

Cool. I have decided to have a magnetic drain plug put in when I get my first oil change.

Great.
Where did you buy the magnetic drain plug?

I bought magnetic drain plugs suggested in a forum post from:
http://www.powerslutracing.com/oil-drain-plugs.html
They are much better than any I have used in the past. They even have a special combo for Z-51 dry sumps. They use a long super magnet that is very powerful. Well made.

I did the change myself just to become more familiar with the car. I used Mobil1, Mobil1 filter and installed the magnetic drain plugs that I got at Autozone. I filled with a little less than 9.5 quarts.

I just don't think I can bring myself to let dealer change the oil on my car. I like to know how much of what is being put in it.

Good feeling to have a dealer you can trust working on your Vette. Too bad they are not all capable to provide that quality service.

I thought they usually don't let the public into the garage area to watch for liability concerns. Must be a REALLY thoughtful dealership.

Wondering if you supplied Jack Pads or did the dealer insert their own before using the lift?

My dealer lets me into the service bays to watch everything going on with my cars.

It's nice to hear someone complimenting their dealer instead of the many negative posts.
I also have my oil changed by the dealer & there is never been any problem.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like a very good shop. Don’t believe my local dealer has them. They have mostly post lifts and when GM requested I have the rear end fluid checked, the gal that schedules service (who is great and was with my C6) told me they would use their alignment rack as they had already cracked a C7 rocker panel! I believe that was before they had a trained C7 mechanic. In fact she brought me over to the new certified C7 tech who let me watch as he checked the fluid level. Was also able to check out where the CAGS eliminator I had on order would go! With my side skirts I have 4 removable 2 inch high aluminum jack pads but unless I talk with the tech I’m not comfortable they will use them if they need to use a post lift.
The dealership is under new ownership and I recently met the general manager when buying a new SUV. Believe they are dedicated to doing a better job.
