Do you tip the salesman or anyone else when you pick up your new C7?
I remember years ago when I picked up my C6, I gave the salesman a gift. After thanking me for the gift, he asked if I could also give him the receipt for it. When I asked why, he said he would prefer to return it and get the cash for it. Not sure if he was serious or not but I refused to give him the receipt.

I gave him a gift.. It was in the price of the car. I would take him out to lunch because we are friends. Mike Furman. I would not tip any person who makes a profit off a transaction. They got their tip.. Nice thought but in my opinion unnecessary

Never Tip a sales guy, instead send him another customer, even if it just for an appraisal. Give him a 100% satisfied on the CSI survey that you're going to get from Chevrolet And tell him that! A sales guy who knows you keep him in mind when people ask you where to go , will go to the ends of the earth for you. Trust me, been training/working with auto sales guys for 30 years. They dont want to be treated like a waiter, they want to be a collegue of yours.

Not yesterday, not today, nor any of my tomorrows. One of my retirements is from the car business, I made a good deal of money through hard honest work. Tips and bonuses for good work came from my employers.
Tuesday I bought a #10 sub from Jersey Mikes and at paying with my C/C the machine asked what my tip would be (this is for the people making the sandwiches as you go down the line). As always $0. They get paid a salary.
My other retirement is from the U S Navy. In 20 years, I never got a monetary tip from my country.
A tip is expected in some jobs such as a waitress or barber. 'nuff said!!!

I gave the salesperson the following tips:
Don't lie to customers, especially when they are employees, or relatives thereof. If you don't know the answer, say so, don't make it up. We will find out.
and
If you promise to include a "dealer installed" option, don't "forget" to order it.

Three times I have sent my Corvette sales lady and the finance lady two dozen red roses. I will be doing it again when I take delivery of the new C7 Laguna Blue Z51.

In fact I actually expect a thank you gift from the salesman/dealership after the purchase. Usually a tin of nice chocolate chip cookies or the like is a nice gesture from them. I didn't get anything from my latest purchase...

yes, i tipped, but to everyone at the dealership
three vehicles from the dealership.
2009 Pontiac vibe.
2011 chev equinox
2012 corvette grand sport.
I bought $50 of cookies from a local renowned bakery and placed the large box on the salesman's desk early the morning after my delivery. I have always gotten what I have asked for in discounts and trade ins and I know I am not an easy guy to please.
my salesman gets attaboy s and the rest of the dealership including service guys, cashiers, f and I folks and other sales people remember me. even the owner has personally called me to thank me for the consideration. needless to say, I have a great relationship with them every step of the way, particularly when I bring cars in for service.

I normally don't but circumstances vary. I was waiting at the dealer for the truck with an eta of 2:00. There was a delay and the trucker called and said he wouldn't be there until about 6:00 (the service dept. was closing at 5:00). The fleet manager kept a gentleman on in the service area and we finished up after 8:00. IMO a $100 bill to buy them dinner was more than deserved.

I sold cars for 7 years at various dealerships and never received a tip or a gift. I did consider myself an honest and very helpful salesman and did go out of my way to make the buying experience a good one for the buyer. I never expected a tip or a gift, as my reward was my commission. I have purchased numerous cars over the years and I myself have never tipped a salesperson and never will!
