I tried a few different searches here but couldn't find a thread about this.. And I bet there is though!

My windshield is horribly pitted. What's the deal? Are these shields so soft bugs are stronger? I swear . Now, I understand this stuff happens but not 15 or so little chips in less than 9000 miles.

Also they are white( The nicks) and stand out. My C6 was not this bad after 47K miles.

I know GM doesn't care how horrible these are made but is there any resins that can be applied to "Soften" the appearance of these? Cleaning the windshield just turns my stomach.

I still have my C5 and it has 120K on it with probably the same amount as the C7 with 9K

The C6 wasn't even as close..

I guess I must be traveling a lot fast in this one..LOL

Which I do have. It drives me crazy that's why I would like something to soften the appearance of these, cause I sure don't want to be replacing windshields each year because it's like looking through a sandblasted windshield at dusk or night.

The windshield on my C7 was scratched on the first day I had it. I've gotten a few more chips since February. Luckily I have full glass coverage so, when I decide to replace it, the insurance will cover it completely. Driving in AZ it's inevitable. There's just too much sand, dust and pebbles on the roads here.

Found a little pit in my C7 windshield after less than 300 miles. Assumed I was just really unlucky. Now I know more chips are in my future.

This car is so darned attractive it draws attention from everything: po-po, little kids, grandmas, hot chicks, psycho ricers... and road debris. I looked in the manual to find out how to disable the SGF (Stingray Gravity Field); unfortunately that feature is turned on full time. It even continues to run when the car is turned off!

Mine is also badly pitted after 8500 miles. My C6 was also pitted, but not a bad. If I had to drive into the sun on any regular basis, I would have it replaced now. As it is, I will just let it go until it really bothers me or becomes a safety issue.

if the imperfections/chips are in your line of sight, you might be able to have it replaced and paid for by insurance.

I had to have the windshield on my C6 replaced twice because of chips on the drivers side there in my direct line of sight.

Try a black sharpie in the nicks and then clean off any residue on the windshield surface. Makes it less noticeable.

OP I feel your pain! The windshield on the C7 chips easier than any car that I have ever owned! I have about 7200 miles on mine and have got about 4 little chips on mine. The first one was when the car had only a few hundred miles on it. They are minor, but are noticeable!

I'd recommend getting ClearPlex put on your windshield to protect it from damage caused by rocks and road debris. Cost me $300 to have it put on and it's already paid for itself 3x over in the 7 months ive had my car. To me it's easier to replace the film every year or two depending on how much abuse it's taken vs replacing the entire windshield every time it gets a little nick or chip in it.

Can't speak for the windshields in the C7, but the one in my C5 (HUD equipped) sure pits easily. Not aware of much that can be done though.

I have more chips in mine than a high school party, pits too, it's all a part of being an owner of a car that gets driven. Schit happens, live with it, you can't keep them in glass bubbles forever.

I went through this with my C5, and now my C7. What I learned is this; just like your brain and eyes get used to 'floaters' in your vision, the same is true of windshield nicks. Over time you won't notice them. Also, be aware that changing the windshield is a difficult repair job that often leads to other issues like leaks or gaps, even when done by the pros. Better to leave well enough alone unless you have an ugly crack in the glass.

That might work. I did have a tint put on the windshield, will probably blend with it. Will try a few low spots and see..
