Camaro Z28 is a nice car but it still isn't a Corvette. Faster or slower makes no difference (to me). A Corvette is the flagship American sports car. Then there is everything else.

They do research and know that they attract different buyers. For example, when I was a lot younger, I knew back then that I wanted a Corvette someday, and that desire never went away. There was just something about Corvettes that no other models have captured. (I am referring to domestic built cars). The first new car I ever bought was a 1974 Firebird, and F-body same as the Camaro. As much as I enjoyed owning and driving my Firebird, it wasn't a Corvette. The Corvette clearly was in a class by itself. When I finally decided to buy a vette 2 years ago, buying a Camaro wasn't even something I considered. I am sure others will have other explanations, but they are different cars built for different buyers.

If you want the fastest car.....the z28 is it. But this is a corvette fanboy site. If its slower than a vette its a POS for being too slow. If its faster than a vette its a POS for costing more, or being not as pretty, etc..... you make up the excuses.
Dude please give us all a break. Very stupid statement. But u already know that.

As someone else said the Corvette will not lose any sales to the Camaro... not directly anyway since all cars technically lose a sale when another car is bought. Thus a buyer with $60K in his pocket walks into a dealership selling both a Tahoe and a Vette, but he's on the fence for either because both would fit his needs in some capacity or another.... he leaves with the Tahoe.. the Vette lost a sale. Just me and my ocd

Either way.. Chevy.. GM.. true enthusiasts should be glad they have both. I love it when I see a Camaro come down the road even though it makes me miss mine. Chevy and GM should be happy because YTD... they have sold more sport coupes than any other maker on the market at 88,250 combined sales. I didn't venture as to how many Honda Accord Coupes were sold YTD but I'm betting that the Chevy Sisters have outsold it.

Z28 will be as passé as a 2013 C6 ZR1 in about a year, when the next generation Camaro is released.

I understand they are only going to build 1,500 or do, if that is the case they will pretty rare and could even be worth money.

I agree with you. You will stir up a hornets nest with your comments but you won't find many 75 years olds driving the new Z28.

20 years later= $ 500,000 (maybe). Would loved to have bought a 1967 big block in 67 . Of course if I had I more than likely would have killed myself in it.

Can't knock this guy for being right. I get ridiculed on here because my car is just a mustang.

I like 'em both. I couldn't care less whether the Z28 cuts into Corvette sales, that's GM's concern, not mine. Presumably, they have marketing types who segment markets, measure potentials, and position products and get paid for knowing what they're doing, unlike internet commentators. Kudos to GM for offering a choice.

As a die hard Camaro fan I was waiting for the Z28 to come out and then I saw that it would have an MSRP around $75k.
Well, needless to say I am opting for an only slightly higher priced Z51. So, to answer your question it has impacted Corvette sales ... +1 here.

Glad to see the Z28 living up to the heritage, but the Vette will car #4 in the stable.

Two totally different cars. The Z28 is basically a streetable race car, A/C and a radio aren't even standard equipment, and sound/heat insulation is minimal. The Corvette is a raceable street car, all the comforts but more than capable on the track. I don't think a buyer of either would consider the other.
