Default Loaded 2015 Z51 or bare bones 2015 Z06?

I ordered a 2015 Z51 2LT A8, mag. suspension, navi, chrome wheels, painted calipers, stripes that is going to be close in price to a bare bones 2015 Z06. What would you guys do? Which car would you enjoy more? I do want to track the car. The bare bones Z06 is tempting.

The perf. exhaust (NPP) and mag. ride are standard on the Z06, and the LT4 engine is rated about 190 hp higher.
Go for the base Z06...

Z06.....but I think you'll have a hard time finding one any time soon. But if you primarily want to track it and not a DD, it's a no brainer IMO. Either way, you got a C7 and life is good!

Depends on whether there are things missing on the bare bones car that are really important to you. Only you can answer that.

Precisely.

Hell, throw an A&A blower on it and you'll have no trouble keeping up while enjoying your luxury. Big difference between a fully loaded Z51 and a base Z.

I bet that if you are not already on a dealer's list, you won't be able to get a Z06 for a very long time, so that's something to consider.

Will you regret not having all the niceties of the 2LT?

I agree, is the luxuries of the loaded base model worth giving up to have some extra HP?

I would also agree, that is money isn't really an issue, and you want to race, than I would get the Z06. I haven't seen the options list yet, but if you can afford basically 79K than you probably can afford 82 or something for a few options. But don't wait too long, I bet GM does the same thing with the z06 as the with the base, and add a mid year price increase and then a year end price increase.

It only took a hour after the Z06 pricing hit the forum before someone posted a comment about how 3LT Z51 Stingray buyers are going to be made or have buyers remorse. I would say NO. I LOVE the look of the Z06 but I want a fully loaded sports car / Show Car. $76k is enough for me and I don't and can't use the Extra HP. I have also seen some of the very same people post "S" about the base car people being crap because they did not get the Z51 pkg. That's also crap. If you don't want something don't buy it. The Corvette is a great looking car, Stingray, Z51, 1Lt, 3lt or Z06.
My $.02 is buy what makes you happy.

This is a no brainer. Nothing wrong with a loaded Stingray, but if you are talking about some track time and you want a fun explosive performance street car for a little fun where it's safe to do it out in the middle of nowhere, there isn't much to think about here. Since you're likely not on a list for a Z06 somewhere, you may have to wait awhile to get one, as the demand will be high. It will be worth it though. The Z06 will be in a completely different league than the Stingray. Those of us running around in supercharged C5's,C6's,C7's can attest to that.

Considering I bought a Base 2014 C7 Convertible I would definitely go Base Z06 over a loaded Z51.

I have all the creature comforts I could ever want except for maybe Memory Seats.

I would have liked the NPP exhaust, but it was the car and color I wanted.

Base Z06! That is if you can get one.

A Loaded Z51 is just a bunch of bells and whistles. Z06 you get performance, looks and much better resale value. A fully loaded Z51 will depreciate much faster than a base z06 will.

Seems to me if you buy a Z51 or Z06 you intend on tracking it, so the answer is easy. The Z06. Your Corinthian leather isn't going to make for a faster lap time.

On the other hand if all your doing is cruising the hamburger stands than save your money and buy a base Stingray.

Oh and that's a "teaser" price to get the attention and cover of all the car mags. In a few months GM will raise it's price like what they did to the Stingray. I figure a $4K to $5K mid-year increase. Especially if knuckelheads are willing to pay over MSRP to get one.

Thank you. Pity the poor souls having to endure driving their inferior Stingrays. It will be agonizing waiting for a '16 Z tooling around in this lump, good thing we have plenty of shoulders to cry on. Oh well, could be worse - at least it's paid for.
