Default Going Over To the Dark Side...

Am trading in my 2014 C7 LT1 Coupe for a new 2014 Porsche 911 C4 Coupe. (How's that for alphabet soup?). Pick up the Porsche tomorrow. I honestly have nothing negative to say about the Vette, I've owned several over the years, just wanted a change.

A couple things helped pave the way. First, the Porsche dealership had the car I wanted and was willing to substantially discount it (invoice) since the 2015 models are beginning to arrive- which is highly unusual. Had to drive 180 miles to find an aggressive dealer but the savings were almost $10K. Secondly, they really stepped up for the C7 trade allowance. It only has 3,000 miles but the trade number was very strong. I think the fact that it was an LT1 with Mag Ride in resale red, helped.

When I test drove the Porsche, I was hooked. Was really impressed with the ride quality, fit and finish, and tightness of the car, allthough it's not really an apples to apples comparison with my Vette. The C7 has an automatic and the Porsche has a manual. The Vette, with over 100 more horespower, seemed faster and had tons more torque. And the Vette looks like a much larger car even though they are both virtually the same weight and length. The 911 seemed glued to the road, was very responsive, and had a spectacular exhaust note when you rowed through the gears.

Will report back after a drive a couple hundred miles.

Congratulations.....I think that you have already made your point. I know of friend that went from a GT2 Porsche to a C7 Coupe. And he actually competes on the road track. He was teased about the move. However, the Porsche guys were very surprised on the performance of the C7 Coupe on the road track. He also wanted a change of manufacture. I once lived in Germany and was fascinated with the Porsches. Thereafter, I had to come to my senses.....I am a muscle car guy. If I could afford the 911 turbo would be the car for me. But you could rest assure there would be a Corvette beside it. But anyway, enjoy your new ride.

At least you picked a good car to go over to for a try. I don't feel the value is there like in the Corvette but they are fun to drive.

Enjoy the new ride.

your in trouble now, once you own P car u can never go back. Ive had Vettes and P car side by side for years. Finally sold P (turbo 936) car and GS and bought new c7. After ignoring the inner urges I'm finally ready to admit I miss p car. Not enough to off c7 though, this is a ggreat car.
I've been a vette guy almost for ever, neighbor walks over and sells me OLD 911, 130k miles, soooo cheap I finally stopped ignoring him and bought. Never looked back, fell in love with the 911. One in garage until now.
Good luck with change, I know your gonna love it!

Nice choice and nice car. Wait until the car is out of warranty and you end up having to pay for service....you will wish you had your Chevy back. Been there, done it, and will never return, unless you are very well off and money is not an issue, well it will be after warranty. Great car as I said, good choice, and you certainly will enjoy it, but I will stay with the C7 for me. I am very happy with what I have...

I'm jealous.

I've got my eyes on Pcars for my next ride I think.

Don't listen to the naysayer's. I have had Vette's and Porsche's and nothing handles like a Porsche. Sure, the C7 may be quicker, but the grin factor is much bigger with the 911.
