Opinion: 2014 or wait for 2015
I am looking to get a 3lt Z51 vert and found a couple 2014's with the options I want but I am wondering if it would be better to get a 2015 with some of the newer features.
Thought I get some opinions from forum members who either have a 2014 or getting a 2015.
Thanks...

It will come down to the deal you can get and if you can live without the colors and features introduced on the 2015's.
If you are getting an automatic, 2015 will offer an all new 8 speed automatic where the '14 will have the 6 speed.
If you are getting a 3LT it will have navigation standard in either case but with the 2015 it will include the PDR (Performance Data Recorder) where the '14 will not.
As an owner of a 2014, I couldn't be happier and I've had 10 plus months of driving enjoyment in my car that I wouldn't have had if I had waited for the 2015.

The price of the 2015 has gone up, and the price of leftover 2014's should be discounted by thousands of dollars. I ordered a 2014 Z51 many months ago and it finally arrived the middle of July, very happy with mine!
Also, depending on where you live, a leftover 2014 will get you into the driver seat next week, a newly ordered 2015 may not arrive until November which is close to the end of the Vette season in the Northern states.

If you are getting an auto, I would wait for the 2015. It's a clean sheet design with lightning fast shifts. Dual clutch comparable. Many of us have been waiting for 2015 for either a stingray or Z06 with that tranny. If you are buying one with a manual tranny and don't care about the PDR, then a great deal on a leftover 2014, is not a bad way to go.

If you're getting a manual it the decision comes down to cost of the discounted 2014 versus probably MSRP for 2015.
Have fun! You will LOVE this car.

is the PDR useful for anything else other than track stuff? Also the '15 does have available Hot Spot WiFi if that's important.

If you want an auto, get the 2015. Otherwise, grab the first one that fits your desired trim and options, regardless of it it's a 2014 or 2015. Depending on what you want and where you live, these can still be hard to get ahold of, so you either jump on the first acceptable one that pops up, or you order a 2015 with exactly what you want and have to wait a few months.
There's always *something* that you could wait just a little bit longer for, but at some point, you just have to pull the trigger or you'll always be waiting for something more. If the Z06 is really that amazing (and I can actually get my hands on one), then maybe I'll buy it later... But in the meantime, I know I'll be really damn happy with a Z51, and I could always supercharge it too. My 3 week wait for it (found one on Chevrolet.com that was just shipped, and claimed it as soon as it popped up), after searching for a suitable car daily for the prior 2 months, has been long enough... I can't see doing a 3-6 month wait.

Dealers have tons of 2014 3LT Verts. They like to load them up, because the options add profits, and also give them lots of room to discount.
There are some Z51s, but personally, if you are not planning to track the car, the Z51 may be overkill, and IMHO, I would not take a convertible to the track anyway.
I think if you can live without the Z51, you can probably get a killer deal on a 2014 in your choice of colors.
The C7 has so much torque, I think the value of the A8 is probably minimal.
A 2014 A6 3LT Vert would be a heck of a nice car for the $$$.

All great points. Definitely torn. Waiting because I'm getting close to winter when the car will sit (if it snows) for about 4 months versus getting it now. I found a number of them out there now but waiting allows for getting a model year later. Something to ponder...

I was also questioning what to do, but decided to get the '14 so I could use it now. Picked it up this past weekend, Z51, 3LT, vert, with sport exhaust, electromagnetic suspension and stick. Glad I did as this weekend and week in North NJ is great weather. Winter comes fast, so enjoy what is left of the good weather.
Since I was going stick, the difference in years was irrelevant, but if auto was my choice, I would have waited for the '15.
Not many Z51s left up here and hard to find discounts. Anyway, good luck, hope u get what u want.

If you just sit tight till about the Dec/Feb time frame, the 15's will have been out for awhile, the usual first year new vette hysteria will have faded, winter will be upon us, constraints should be minimal, and good discounts should also be out there. A win/win in all directions should be happening.

Supplier discounting on the '15's is as good if not better than the discounting on '14 Z51's. Makes no sense its a model year old. Plus you can build a '15 without all the dealer added BS to get the price to 72k.

My 2 cents get a 2015 the 14 will take a depreciation hit now drive the 15 for almost a year before a serious hit and if you need out of it easier to get out of the 15 because of this. There are little things software wise that may make a diff to you. Being able to have system read your text messages to you is one.

If buying right now which the OP is not, but if he was going automatic I would say 2015 for sure to get the A8.
The text thing would be gr8, but not a deal breaker if the right deal on a 14 was there.
