Lowered on stock bolts w/pictures
Used Race Ramps and a floor jack to lower the stock bolts. It took longer to take the pictures, than to unscrew the bolts. On the Race Ramps
Floor jack with a 2x4 pushing up on the spring.
This is a Z51 with MSR. Front/Rear measurements before: 27 3/8" Front 28 7/8" Rear After
Front 26 3/4" Dropped 5/8" Rear 28 3/8" Dropped 1/2".. Looks Great..
Pictures at the other three corners.

Do you need to get it aligned after lowering? I was looking at some profile photos of my car and it sure has a lot of air between the tires and fender openings.

On all my other Vettes I lowered on stock bolts I had them aligned afterwards.

If you lower all 4 corners all the way with the stock adjusters the rear is now too low. You want some rake in the car (front lower than the rear). Measuring at the frame slots, the front one should be 1/8" - 1/4" lower. Seeing lots of cars with the rear end too low on these forums. Been that way since the C5.
Mechanically the alignment will change... it has to. Whether or not it moves out of spec is debatable. The alignments from the factory seem to be close at best, so I always have the car aligned to a specific set of figures after lowering.

Fred, The Race Ramps are so easy to use and they are safe. It is really nice to be able to work, clean, or just mess around under this car. I would buy these Race Ramps again. Like I said easy and safe, what's not to like.

if you bottom out the bolts does it get the rake you wanted or do you stop short on the back?

I like the specially labeled wood Corvette tools, did those cost extra at Home Depot?
When I lowered mine I jacked up each corner one at a time. Whole process took less than 30 minutes.

Looks great except now scrapes on every road abnormality which ruins the driving experience. I don't understand why this lowered look is so popular, looks over versatility. My C6 scraped all the time, often shuttered thinking, hope nothing is damaged. Now I really enjoy the drive and it is great!

And yes, the alignment changes, it's physically impossible for it not to but most that have measured it say it's still within the factory specs. The setting that will change the most is camber and a tad more negative camber isn't a bad thing
I will be getting it aligned soon since as you said, the factory settings are simply "close".

It is highly recommended. Even if you don't lower the car, you never know if the car came out of the factory within the proper specs, so it's always a good idea to double check. The cost of an alignment is very cheap compared to the cost of tires, and a bad alignment will go through a set of tires pretty quickly.

The sound of the air dam scraping is enough to put a frown on my face. If you look at used C6's, it is hard to find any cars that the lower painted facia, ahead of the air dam, is not damaged. Some have been hit pretty hard!
