"While there are no reported cases of cars being maliciously hacked in the real world,..."

If this truly "worries the hell out of" you please see your doctor immediately and tell him you are developing paranoid ideations and think people are actually interested in hacking your car.

Explain to the doctor you became terrified after reading an article that made clear what you are terrified of has never, ever happened.

Better sell that C7 quick and get a nice C2 or C3 or even C4. Then you won't have to worry any more.

A three year old article. I'm certainly not going to lose any sleep over it.

I just sold my C7 after reading that article. Looks like I'm going to be riding my bicycle to work for now on.

I heard the Chinese have overv 600 million people working on hacking the C7 right now. There objective is to steel your radio presets.

Protect yourself!

Answer this question: Does your car have an IP and does it communicate outbound with any other IP ?

The likelihood today is that a C7 will not be hacked with the current state of telematics, IP use in cars, etc. Can it be hacked in the near future?
Answer the questions above (IP, talking outbound, etc.).

We really don't have to worry about this until V2V becomes a standard that is required.

Hacking and tampering is a serious concern with V2V today and is a hot topic in engineering and product planning meetings. The problem is, as many people know.... if you build it, someone can hack it given enough time and resources.

In all seriousness, hacking is an inevitability.

Could be a good defense for a speeding ticket....

"Your honor, the kid next door is a computer geek, he hacked into my BCM and made my car go 140"

Hey, it could work...
