Moon Roof for 2015
I plan to order a 2015 and I'm thinking of getting a moon/clear roof. I'm told that this might expose drivers and passengers to melanoma or skin cancer.
Does the moon roof have any UV ray blocking ability?
Is this a problem I need to think about?

Chevy has been selling clear Lexan roofs at least since the start of C5 production, 18 years ago. I'm sure if there was a problem, GM would be facing another massive lawsuit/safety recall by now. Never noticed a problem in the 10 years I had my C5.

The only problem will be the heat[/QUOTE]
The heat is constant in the summer in Texas, even with my C6 and the solid roof. Do you mean there will be even more heat with a moon roof, or are you referring to the "normal" Texas heat?

More heat. I'm in Michigan with the transparent roof and I can tell you the temp the 5" or so nearest the roof is a lot hotter than if I slide down the 5" from the top. I bought the insulated insulation panel that mounts with suction cups and really does a great job of cooling the interior down. I'd get the transparent roof and buy the panel from the supplier here. You get more headroom plus keep the heat out in summer and heat in in winter.

Sorry, that is not what I meant. It is a clear plastic(?) removable roof, just like the solid removable roof. The only change is people can see through it. But it does cost about $1,000 more than the conventional roof, and even much more if you chose to get both.

I had a Monte Carlo SS with the tinted T-tops, it was the last time. Had the screens in more than out.

It may be a moot point, with the carbon painted roof on constraint you may only be able to get the tinted see through roof. As to the UV exposure I would not worry as the "plastic" filters the UV fairly well. But buy a sunshade. will make a world of difference as far as heat in the car, also much more comfortable riding in on hot days, most anything over 75 f.
Living in Austin I learned real soon to use and aftermarket shade in my old C5, never again with the plastic top.

No more clear tops for me.

Had the transparent top on my C5. Hated it in the Texas heat. Fortunately, I had dual tops and used the solid top almost exclusively. I'll never have another transparent top in Texas.

I have the lexan roof on my '86. Even tinted, it still lets a lot of heat get in, so much so that if I wasn't selling it soon I'd be plasti-dipping it black. It's part of the reason I went with the painted roof on my '14.

Although I posted this several years ago and is specific to the C6, I would assume the "clear" (which is really tinted blue or bronze) roof info from this post remains correct>>

I now live in Florida and was out today for a cruise (92℉ sunny to mostly sunny) and we were totally comfortable with the 'clear' top on.
Here is the appearance thru the roof on a sunny/cloudy day>>>
