Default Clean the screen

What is recommended for cleaning the radio / nav screen?

Can you use the indivually wrapped eye glass cleaners?

From the owner's manual section 10-76

[Cleaning High Gloss Surfaces and Vehicle Information and Radio Displays For vehicles with high gloss surfaces or vehicle displays, use a microfiber cloth to wipe surfaces. Before wiping the surface with the microfiber cloth, use a soft bristle brush to remove dirt that could scratch the surface. Then use the microfiber cloth by gently rubbing to clean. Never use window cleaners or solvents. Periodically hand wash the microfiber cloth separately, using mild soap. Do not use bleach or fabric softener. Rinse thoroughly and air dry before next use.]

I use the individually wrapped eye glasses cleaner. It's some pretty mild cleaner and it's handy since I have them around.

I was surprised when I read the manual that a microfiber cloth should be used.

Makeup brushes work good for brushing the screen and getting dust out of crevices in the dash..

I use a microfiber towel and nothing else. The towel easily removes fingerprints and smudges.

I guess we all need to know is the display glass or plastic and I tend to believe it's plastic !!! So I tried the eye glass cleaners but I didn't think they did a very good job !!! So i have been using a plastic polish ( Griots ) but some others might work as well !!! I do know that I had to use a soft cloth like a old hand towel then use a lint free cloth to finally polish the screen !!! Wayne

Since I don't mind people railing on what I do, I'll go ahead and post that I never wipe my screen because I use a stylus. The one below is the one I bought at WalMart. Not only does it keep me from having to clean my screen, it works better than my finger. I found that I was having to press hard on the display with my finger, but with the stylus this problem is eliminated. I keep it in the cup holder and I never have to fumble around for it. It works every time I touch the screen with it, so multiple attempts to activate a selection on the display is a thing of the past. Let the naysayers begin...but don't knock it until you've actually tried it.

I have found the eyeglass wipes that some in the foil packet do not work at all, although they worked great on my C6 screen. Must be a different material now. I have found that on the C7 screen a little water on a microfiber cloth works fine...

I have to admit, I was getting ready to rag on you; however, it is actually a great idea... Nice job!

The outer material is the same you'd find on a common matte-finish LCD (in this case, touch-sensitive like an Elo monitor), so anything that's fine with a matte LCD screen will be safe on this.

Nice idea on the stylus, Jag! Just make sure to use the puffy ones - the flatter (less rounded) ones had a nasty habit of scratching, but those kind of faded away.

I was ragged on excessively the first time I proposed the idea. I'm used to it!

Thanks! And good thought. I should have mentioned that.

I find it much easier not to look for the stylus when I'm driving.

Somehow, my finger is always handy. It's rarely in the cup-holder, or somewhere else, like the floor, or under the seat.

It's fine with me if you finger your screen. My stylus is always handy to me as well. And not only that, but for me, it's more accurate than my fat finger, which translates to less time looking at the screen.
