Rented a Stingray this weekend
I am on the wait list at Les Stanford for a 2015 but have undecided about a few features, including:
1. coupe or vert
2. z51 v non-z51
3. black interior (live in FL and never had a black interior car)
So while I wait to place my order I rented a vette from Sixt Rental in fort Lauderdale- only $360 incl. taxes for the weekend and money well spent.
I love the lines of the coupe, but being in FL and this as a 3rd car the vast majority of the time the top will be down. Plus my kids enjoyed reciting the old transformers jingle from the old toy commercials every time the top goes up or down. Loved the ease of the vert, incl. when it started raining a bit and up goes the roof with the touch of a button. I love the coupe but I am a vert guy at heart. For me advantage vert.
This will be my first vette (never really loved them before), and the rental was a non-z51 which was plenty good for me.
Black interior was just fine, especially with the ventilated seats which is good b/c I think that is the only good color that goes well with the yellow I plan to order (unless I go with red interior and get a personalized license plate that says "Hpy Meal" .)
So made some good decisions this weekend to make the ordering decisions a bit easier. I highly recommend it for anyone on the fence about options like I was. Plus it was one hell of a fun weekend driving. Money well spent. Here is the rental - similar to what I will order but like black wheels, yellow calipers, stinger stripe, and spoiler which I will likely have done after the fact. The yellow is certainly a head turner. Saw a few other vettes this weekend incl. a black and a silver and of course everyone has their own opinion but the yellow with the black contrasting wheels, stinger stripe, spoiler, and yellow calipers is one heck of a cool looking car.

I did the same thing! I live in SoCal and rented a yellow non Z51 coupe this past weekend. It was $220 per day. My friend and I drove it down to a local Cars and Coffee and got compliments on it. I'm ordering a '15 white Z51 coupe, though.

$360 for the weekend is not a bad deal. I'd say it was a good way to narrow down the options you want when you order yours.

Great way to get a "real" test drive. without the salesman crying.
I took the viper I rented in vegas out at 1AM on the freeway. just to see what It would do.
and the road out of Nellis AFB is another good test road. no traffic or cops.

Here is the one I rented last week from Hertz. 3LT, comp seats, NPP, cyber stripe. Dash plaque said it was one of 75 "Hertz Editions".
