Do You Race Your C7?????
I didn't want to create a poll, because I know that a lot of us don't like them. But, I'm curious about how many C7 owners actually track their cars and how often? I'm guessing that the percentage is actually quite low, but I certainly could be wrong.
I, for one, don't track any of my cars...for several reasons:
1. Lack of time
2. Lack of trust (in myself)
3. Lack of talent
4. Lack of nearby track
Much of my curiosity about this comes from the banter I see here regarding 0-60 times being a thing of the past, it's all about balance, nobody really races in a straight line anymore, etc. I'm guessing that for all the discussion about performance, less than 10% of vette owners ever track their cars.

Just about every weekend / 4-5 times a month during the season.
I record everything, and post videos from all my events:

EDIT: While I live 20 minutes from Pocono Raceway, I am not on it as much I would like. I generally find myself driving 2+ hours each direction to do autox or road cross for National COuncil of Corvette Clubs regional points.

Mix of lack of time, lack of track (granted I've got three awesome tracks a bit aways, it's far enough to be inconvenient), and lack of funds. Tracking a car like the C7 requires expendable funds I don't have / aren't willing to spend. I can afford a C7, I can't afford to do anything stupid with it (like crash it into a tire barrier).

I'm about an hour from Mid Ohio and have been there twice this year with another session scheduled for labor day. The car does well and frankly it does well w/o me really needing to push it or abuse it. I stay within my comfort zone. Someone can hit 150 down the backstretch for instance but I find it just as thrilling to go 10 20 MPH slower.....knowing I need not hammer my brakes as an example.
I use painters tape to protect the car because there can be significant crap being throw around, and that works well unless it rains!
Tires get real sticky which is great on the track but require a paint scrapper to get all the stones out of the thread which is a pain. It picks up stones for maybe 500 miles. Tires, brakes wear very well.
I think key to any track event is the type of event being put on. At these events (sponsored by a local group autointerests.com) , we all want to be able to drive our cars home. Designated passing zones, three performance groups. There are some more aggressive groups renting track time but that is not for me and my new car.
Like anything there is risk and reward. You get to experience the performance of the car......but the risk is no insurance on the track.
Each to their own.

Your missing out, if you don't track it. whats the point in buying a car built for speed and quick lap times. only to be driven to hang out in some parking lot of an ice cream shop, to talk about cars.
If your gonna talk the talk, walk the walk.
Carol Shelby and zora didn't build these kind of cars to just sit in a parking lot. Use them as intended, or buy a Cadillac......
