Feel like a total heel
Back in April I visited my local dealer and inquired about ordering a '15 Z51. The salesman was great and said I'd be first on the list for '15 allocations.
Well, after reading all the horror stories of small dealers not coming through, when MacMulkin posted that they had allocations left for '14 my impatience won out and my TPW is 07/07.
Well don't you know I get a call first thing this morning from the local guy "hey Pat, great news..just got one allocation for '15 and you are #1 on our list". Yup, in all the excitement I forgot to let him know I found a car elsewhere. To make me feel worse, the guy was totally gracious and even went on to say they would happily be my dealer for any service/warranty regardless.
On one hand I'm stoked I will have my car early and have plenty of summer drive time but on the other, I feel like a total *** for not giving my local guy a chance as it appears he is a straight shooter.

It's just business, don't feel too bad. Take him up on his offer and support the dealership with service, parts, etc. I had some of the same feelings when I ordered from a non-local dealership too, but I've since supported them with "courtesy" delivery, parts, and warranty service.

Thanks Guys, I know it's business but I guess I'm still old school in respect to the fact that when I tell someone I'm going to do something I try to make sure I keep my word. Especially seeing how the dealer so far was keeping up his end.
I will be certain to give him any and all service and warranty work.

I don't think they care, especially if you didn't have any money down. Yes, they lost a sale, but most C7 owners have owned previous generations and they know there's a good chance of selling you your next one. Congrats on your new Corvette

Yes, they ARE straight shooters, and it must be a company policy. West Herr apparently owns both a Ford and Chevrolet franchise.
This is really weird but many years ago, I had to get an "ordered" company car, a Ford; it was a slightly odd order. I chose West Herr Ford and they delivered just the way they said they would. They were almost 400 miles away and I never met the person who helped me, but I remember that dealer, and we're talking over 20 years ago.
While it won't benefit the salesperson, I'd at least meet the person, and possibly put in a good (written) word for him.

I wouldn't worry too much about it...You may have been number ten to be first on the list...

Scraping the splitter.
Don't sweat it. It's not like the dealer will have any problem selling a '15 C7.
You're using them for service, so they ARE getting your business.

The opposite happened to me. Ordered from a local dealer found out 2 weeks later they didn't have the allocation they said they had so I bought an in stock car from Tommy! I have had the car since April 7th and would have still been without a car if I had not listened to the forum members!
