I don't think it has to do with age, as much as it does on how you're going to use the car where you live. If I lived near Pacific Coast Highway or in the mountains I have a stick. But currently I live in Florida were the roads are straight and I'm downtown 99% of the time, so a stick doesn't make any sense. I'm 63

33, Z51 M7. Replaced an 2001 Z51 A4.

Also have a 4+3m '86 which will likely be replaced by another 2001 A4.

45 - 54 lol

Age is not the only factor, but I would be lying if I didn't admit it is a big factor. I feel my knees more each year.

As a young man I used to hold forth with great pomposity about how Corvettes and other sports cars shouldn't even be available in automatic. I drove and loved sticks.

Older and wiser now, I understand the role of an automatic.

Other factors in my choice include the availability of amazing paddle shift transmissions and the fact that I live in the middle of the City of Saint Louis with stop and go driving I didn't have when I was young and pompous.

If the Vette didn't offer a paddle shift, it would be a much more difficult decision, and I might very well go with the M7.

Well I started the transmission/color thread and have enjoyed all the responses so I'll respond to this one. I am 66 and have an 06 A6. My previous Corvette was a 93 Ruby six speed manual. Back thru the years I have had many cars and trucks of each type and can appreciate the pros and cons of both. My plans are now to buy a C7 this coming fall and am vacillating on which transmission to get.
