Thanks A-hole
Well somebody ruined my day. Looks like someone backed into my rear bumper. no note, didn't even wait around to explain. I was only in CVS for 10 mins. I will post a picture tomorrow. At least it just looks like paint damage. Nothing seems to be cracked or broken.

That sucks, but I suspect the perp isn't on the forum so your thank you will never reach its intended audience.

Sorry to hear it. That kind of thing is why I never leave my Corvette unattended in a parking lot. I've got a regular car for practical use .. the 'vette is for driving, not parking. For me, that is .. YMMV

They may not be able to release that unless the police request it for a hit n run. Sorry to hear about your incidence, hopefully you can get it repaired quickly. I can't believe that someone would do that and not own up to it. Slim.

When my 2012 Volvo S60 was 4 weeks old, I parked at a rest stop for no more than 5 minutes. When I came back to the car, my entire right front fender had been crushed.
I had a 2009 Audi A4 that I left at a Park and Fly hotel when on a trip. On the way home, I stopped to get gas and noticed both right doors, the rear fender, and one wheel had been ripped apart by what must have been the blade of a snow plow. I didn't see the right side of the car while I was still in the lot, so I had no recourse with the hotel.
Never a note, never anything. My insurance collision policy paid for everything less the $100 deductible, but these are upsetting experiences to go through. People don't leave notes .... people don't take any responsibility for any of their actions anymore. It sucks, but that's the way it is.

Not to give you more unpleasant news, but Corvettes are famous for cracks not showing up for up to a week after an impact. Give it a few days before you take it for repairs.
Also, I agree with the post about having the police check security cameras.

Try the owner of the parking lot, they usually have cameras, since it is private, hey my cooperate. My other car was hit at an airport parking lot and they cooperated, unfortunately, the cameras didn't include where I parked. I am considering adding dash cams to the car for exactly this purpose. Dash Cam Talk is a popular forum.

I feel your pain. This happened to me in a CVS in 2011. Lady hit my parked car so hard my car spun 180 degrees. Luckily no other cars (I was parked alone) and there were two other cars parked away from mine including spots at the door. She tried to leave but it knocked her right front tire off the rim. Luckily the police was two blocks away and they blocked her in trying to drive off. I was in the store for three minutes when it happened.
11k in damage....in the shop four weeks as new parts came from all over the country and Canada.
Good luck with your repair.

thanks for the advice everyone. I hadn't planned on stopping there was on my way to my brother's for cookout and realized I needed a card for my dad. Parked out in the open part of the lot. I guess some people just can't see a black car.
it's just irritating the someone one not even acknowledge the fact that they did this. And it's not the first time for me either. Had it happen to another car years ago. big dent in the driver door from someone that is in a rush to get into the Casino. LOL
i know it's not always the case as Someone backed into my mustang while stopping for lunch on 95 in maine. the guy actually walked around the Burger King looking for me. When he found me and told me he thought I would be mad. I told him it was an accident and was pleasantly surprised that he took the trouble to find me. See there are some honest people out there.

It is really hard and sometimes not worth owning a nice car.

It's been that way here in Minneapolis for 30 years. During that time, our family's cars have been hit maybe a dozen times. Damage ranging from minor dents to multi-thousand-dollar repairs. NEVER got a note -- NEVER.
I'm with the others here -- see if the parking lot cameras can help. Good luck!

That's terrible..sorry for what happened to you and your car too,,,.I know someone that bought a used low mileage c6 ( my husband has their insurance) and he was driving it back to Longview Tx. He had only owned it four hours and a kid ran into the back end of his corvette pushing him into another lane of traffic where he ended up hitting a sign on the side of the roadway. His vehicle was totaled and had only owned it a total of four hours!!!
