Default What happend to "Right Rear Wheel Almost Came Off" by dbevins?

Looking to see if anyone disclosed what happened to this car and cannot find the thread.

Moderators: was the thread deleted? If so, why?

How do you know that?

I can't believe the Moderators would delete such a large thread just because the OP wanted it deleted. The OP never should have started it then or told different stories in the two threads that he started on the problem.

I find this forum to have valuable info on issues that come up with "life" with a vehicle - and this forum is about Corvette's and this section on new C7's - Soooo…
IF the OP hit a pothole in his new C7 (or not) and then his suspension eventually "gave way" then IF myself or other forum readers hit a pothole and we feel something weird with our wheels or suspension then it may just save our lives to remember reading the post…
This forum already educated me on the possibility of a failed drive belt tensioner and when I heard "the noise", after 3800 miles, I knew immediately what the problem was (leaky belt tenstioner) before I went to the dealer for diagnosis-and I'm not a mechanical person by any stretch of the imagination.
Thanks for keeping this forum real…;0)

Interesting. I bet there is more to this story.

I wonder what the final failure mode was.

I love this Forum...but, deleting that thread, and taking the OP off the hook for telling a blatant lie, certainly doesn't add to our credibility.

All we know is what the OP said, which was vague and not that informative. He's getting a new car, but we don't know who's paying for it - maybe the OP or insurance, most likely GM. They probably want to disect it to find out what happened. If that's the case, they probably made it conditional - delete the thread and say no more. Wouldn't you take that deal? Sometimes in life, there are questions that never get answered - kinda like Dateline NBC. You spend an hour trying to figure out who the killer is, and after the last commercial, they come back and say "Well, that's it for now, see you next week."

if the OP is getting a car, he must sign a non disclosure agreement with GM, and not post any info on it on any forums. It is SOP for any Mfr....asking for deletion makes perfect sense, it's not anyone's business what happened. The OP owes us nothing. Bitch all you want, that's the way the world works when lawyers are involved.

Forget about blaming the lawyers. It's called negotiations. If you want something, come to the table and let's see if a deal can be made. It was. That was the price of the deal. It doesn't take a lawyer to construct a deal, just two willing parties.

When a buy back /trade assist is done, it involves GM legal with a 5 page agreement. No simple handshakes here.

Without lawyers, if the party owning the car doesn't like the deal, there is no deal.

It would be valuable to know what actually happened. I wouldn't, at some point, be surprised to see the car on the used car market in the future.

Of course it will be on the used car market, it will be fixed, the title branded as a buy back, work disclosed, and sell for a lower price....why is that so nefarious?

He probably had it closed because of speculation like this thread. This forum has a habit of dissolving into pissing matches and more often than not, assumptions and accusations against others .... GM and/or dealership employees or reps, without full knowledge of the circumstances, when these kind of threads are started.

If this was truly a GM buyback then there is a safety issue or a large enough concern they wanted the car back in their hands versus sending someone out to inspect.

As I said before I'd give it a 5 percent chance of being for customer service and a 95 percent chance because they wanted to see if they had a problem.

I doubt the car will be sold. If it went back to GM its going to be inspected and then crushed.

Quite odd that it was deleted rather than just locked.

GM paid him to be quiet?

The OP actually does owe the board plenty but is probably hog tied by GM or some power to be. If I owned a product that had a catastrophic failure I'd want to know why. As I had said in the first thread, if this car was involved in a fatal accident you can bet GM would be recalling cars especially taking into account what they are going through now with safety related issues and its history of sweeping under the carpet.

No one said it was nefarious. It was a simple comment. It will obviously be fixed and sold.
