[QUOTE=Silverblue;1587096438]With all due respect, have you taken a serious look at the stock silver painted non-Z51 wheel? Like you, I have NEVER put aftermarket wheels on a car UNTIL NOW.

Here is my "before & after":

Those wheels look good on your car. I have always paid extra for the chrome wheels for my Corvetts. That is why I made the statement about aftermarket wheels.

Glen, thank you for showing me that - I actually don't hate them, and they look like they fit great. VR ordered my set and already put my 888s on them with new TPS.

For the money, they're hard to beat (forged, light, cheap). Still don't look as good as the stock Z51 black wheels, though.

Oh well, sometimes function > form.

we are all diff, I really don't like the z51 black wheels, esp the gm ones painted with car paint....I think the brickyards are better looking...I like the new GM machined face ones though, for 15...I'll always will buy machined face...they stay clean....

Glad to hear it - now I'm excited to see them back here in person!

I debated on the machined face, but the rest of the car is black-themed, so I stuck with the matte black.

Again, thanks for those.

i agree that their choice there ranks up among the worst ever--probably designed by the same guy who did the grill. the z06 wheels are winners, imo. would love to see them available retroactively for the Z51. i dont think that people appreciate how the wheels can really enhance the overall appearance, probably more than anything else.

The tires I need to run won't fit the fronts and rears, so I chose Cray Brickyards to replace them. Not as pretty, but they're 11" wide and fit 315/30/20 without issues. Same with the front being 9.5" wide.

Sometimes it's out of necessity - only other option is to pay for stock wheels to be widened. That gets pricey. I need R compound for 750whp, and nothing made for the stockers (yet).

Im in the same boat and these are what I'm thinking about getting.

They are machine faced TSW Nurengrings, about $1,200.00 a set from several different venders. I do love the wheel...

You are 100% on the money my friend. They were monsterous big wheels. And according to my BMW dealer they only fit a 2007 to 2014 BMW X-5. So yes, the market was very small and it was tougher than nails to even find a buyer period. I absolutely "love" the 5 split spoke wheels that Corvette offers. I don't care if they are black which is my favorite or chrome or silver. I actually was not referring to the $1,995 upgrade as thats not really a big deal. What I was referring to was if you were going to order "true custom wheels" say for over $5,000. Then you really need to "think it over" because when you finally decide to sell the car and put the originals back on you won't get much for the so called "custom wheels". That was my only point. Thank You.

If you feel bad about all the money you lost on those wheels, wait till you try to sell the BMW!

I have seen several examples of three piece Forgeline wheels that leak or require rebuilding.

I had a friend spend over 6k on custom 3 pieced Forgeline and sell them because he was constantly losing air. I would look at Monoblocks not three piece on custom wheels.

I just bought the Cray's for track tires, hard to beat them for the price and I wanted the correct offset's vs. the stock C5 Z06 wheels.

I have two X5's and got to say I love their wheels. I have the 4.8is wheels on my 2002 and the Anniversary wheels on my 08. They both look fantastic.

I can't say that I like the factory BMW wheels at all but "to each his own". That's why they make chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry.

Pretty dumb thread... if you buy good wheels from a reputable vendor i.e. HRE, Fikse, CCW the resale is fantastic. Also, many styles will enhance the looks of the car. Giant ghetto wheels or cheap eBay garbage looks poor, but to say all aftermarket wheels cheapen the look of a car is just silly.

I fully expect to pay $10,000 for new wheels and tires.

I give a damn what the resale value is

Not a dumb thread at all. Look at all the views and replys. Dumb threads don't even get views let alone replys. I stand by what I said. I bought very expensive wheels for my BMW and paid $5,500 for them and had one hell of a difficult time selling them. If you have had better luck then Iam happy for you. But I do think aftermarket wheels regardless of the brand will be worth alot less than what you paid for them. Probably less than half like what I finally got for mine.
