Default G@#$%& Roofing Nail!!

Well, looks like I'll get a partial return on that Tire, Wheel and Rim Protection service contract they talked me into and with my luck and the 3 years and 10 months remaining, I might get a full return and then-some!! Given where this nail is situated, I doubt this one would be repairable even if it were not a run-flat. We'll see what Monday brings.

I think its repairable, a bit close to the side wall but not on it.

how many miles on the car? Sometimes manufacturers dont recomend adding a new tire with one that's at half life. Probably not the case here.

Too close to the edge to repair. From experience I can say that Discount Tire won't repair that tire.

I have the 70,000 mile wheel & tire road hazard warranty. GM doesn't recommend patching the runflats at all. They replaced my left rear Z51 tire w/o question . $560 and change to the warranty.

I wouldn't risk it then, sounds like OP has tire plan anyway.

Does anyone know about changing tires in pairs for the C7? If tires last 20K and you needtro replace one at 10K, what would be the correct thing to do?

And if you have the tire insurance will they replace both?

I've had the car 1.5 months and just turned 650 miles today. Obviously not a daily driver.

That is definitely NOT repairable. No repairs are allowed in the tread area beyond the outside grooves orsidewall.

I had a 747 hexbolt go through my tire about a month ago. Luckily it was in the center of the tire and was repaired. I wasn't offered the tire and wheel warranty. The finance guy was a sub or so he said and probably left it out.

I wish I bought the warranty. I had 2 punctures in 2 weeks. First was the right rear had a stud from a band clamp I ran over and the second was a screw in the left rear. I had a dealer repair the first one for $30, and the second one I took to the dealer I bought the car from who said the tire had to be replaced as it wouldn't be considered "z" rated with a patch and didn't want to be liable.

This is the same dealer who insisted they pay to haul my car 50 miles home on a flat bed when I bought it because outside temps were in the low 30's. I pulled the screw and stuck a glue covered plug in the tire, and it's been fine since.

I guessing that it was some brake fluid that dripped on the wheel at the factory when they bled the brakes (it's on all 4 wheels) and splattered when first driven. I have since cleaned that wheel and the other rear wheel since I have it jacked up using the center, rear cradle. I'll do the fronts later.

Having had two sheet metal screws in my rear tires that were repaired I have to ask, What Wheel & Tire hazard warranty? Where did you purchase the warranty, and what did it cost?

I have purchased road hazard tire coverage on replacement tires when purchased but am unaware of how to get same for tires on a new car..

It has a better chance of being repairable than this!
Yes, that's a screwdriver with a broken handle.

OUCH!

In 1991 in the east TN mountains a nearly new disc brake pad from someones car ended up inside the tire (it went all the way through and was bouncing around inside) of my 1991 GMC pickup.
The aluminum wheel survived without damage but the tire was DOA, instant massive air loss as you might expect. I found a really friendly shop near Cosby that quickly transferred the tire from the steel spare wheel and mounted a good used tire on the spare. Not the high point of my vacation but it could have been much worse.

My experience with my last 5 new car purchases, this is one of several additional products they try to sell you when you're in with the finance person. It goes beyond the "road hazard" warranty the tire stores offer with a new set of tires. The dealer sold product includes the wheels (rims) (some include "dent & ding" and windshield repair) and roadside assistance. For my 2011 Camaro 2SS it was $765.00 for 4 years. For my C7 it jumped to $819.00 for 4 years. They roll it into your financing, which makes it a little easier. Dealers make money off of these, so that's also a reason for them to push these. It's just another insurance policy and brings you to one of those "do you fell lucky" decisions.
