Default To Those Who Chose Museum Delivery...

I have a couple of questions.

1. How long does it take after you arrive to pick up the car, get orientated and leave?

2. How long does it take to see the museum?

Is it possible to pick up the car in the morning and see the museum in the afternoon?

Thanks to all who reply.

1. How long does it take after you arrive to pick up the car, get orientated and leave?

You will be notified by the Museum to set up either a Morning or Afternoon Delivery, morning is 10:30 AM. You will meet your service advisor who will be with you entire time. We arrived day early, when through the museum and the store the day before saving time. This told us about 4 hours and we took our time. Suggest you go to the museum day before. Day of delivery, we arrived around 9:30 AM for 10:30 PM, the Delivery office opens around 9:30 AM and the advisor is putting your temp plates on your car. If you hit it write the advisor can start your new car orientation a litter earlier. If you chose to the VIP Factory Tour around 11:00 AM and back to museum by 12:30 PM. At that time the service advisor will go over the entire car with you. If this is your first Corvette it will take longer, if you have owned C5 or C6s it will be shorter. Most of the touchscreen selections you will have to learn on your own. You and your advisor will set up your On-Star Account, and your dealer should have already set up your Sirus Account. You will then go and sign a few papers, and have lunch if you chose. It is possible to get the orientation, not go on the factory tour and be out by noon

2. How long does it take to see the museum?
If you stop and look at each exhibit, about 2 hours, condensed tour about hour. Don't forget the Corvette store you could easily spend 30 minutes or so on that.

Is it possible to pick up the car in the morning and see the museum in the afternoon?
Museum opens at 8:00 AM, first schedule delivery starts at 10:30 AM, so you could see the museum before the first scheduled Delivery.

Your car is on display /in/ the museum, so you find it while you are on the tour. (It's been a while, but mine was in one of the 'middle' rooms, not the last stretch before the exit)

I would suggest doing the factory tour in the morning, and museum delivery in the afternoon. If you do the opposite, you will be too excited/want to drive do the factory tour.

We did the museum the day before. As long as you don't want a guided tour, you can do that or do it after delivery.

Contrary to 1KULC7, in Dec when we did our delivery, we were offered either 7:30 am or 10:30 am as the start time. We did 10:30. We showed up about 10, did a little paperwork and then went to the plant for the tour. The delivery specialist will take as much time as you want at the plant. Being that my wife and I had both toured the plant before, we were back at the museum shortly after 12 noon. The vehicle orientation and the final paperwork were done by 2 pm and my wife took the car out (delivery specialist driving.) We went and had a late lunch at the Wendy's by the plant and then hit the road. Not the absolute only right answer, but it was our experience.

If you do the buyers tour, is it worth doing the factory tour when you pick up your car? Seems like it would be a summarized version of what you'd done during the buyers tour a week or two before, but I'm curious if you see anything different.

You're the customer, you can make it as long or short as you'd like it to be

Personally if I had it to do over again I probably would've taken a little more time through the museum

There's the museum tour and the factory tour, they are separate. The factory tour is escorted, the museum tour can be escorted or not, your choice.

When you arrive you go through orientation then off to the factory tour. Once back from the factory tour you can do the museum tour then take delivery. The "morning" delivery starts at 7:45, the "afternoon" delivery starts at 10:30. You could bypass both tours and simply take delivery of your car but then why did you bother coming to Bowling Green in the first place?

There is also the buyers tour, where you get to (hopefully) walk your car down the line part of the way, and then return in a couple of weeks for the Museum delivery. We didn't have the luxury of scheduling to do it this time around, but when I buy my Z I will absolutely do the buyers tour also.

Short answer is I did the early delivery slot, we spent all the time we wanted at the factory, the museum, the intro to the car, the store, photos at museum and back at factory with the car and were on the road by 3:30. Enjoy!

As a tag onto this thread how long is the typical lead time from when you order the car at the dealer until it's ready for museum delivery?

I ordered end of January, came off line March 4th, March 18th was earliest I could pick it up as all museum cars are held for two weeks.

Same except we left at 3. I wish we would have spent extra half hour or so in museum especially now that several of those cars got squashed in sinkhole. Overall NCM delivery a great experience and well with cost in both $ and time.

I'm curious to know what the nightmare was for you during your museum delivery?

I've done 4 Museum Deliveries - all were great! You can't just say it was a nightmare and not explain.

Our guy's pants didn't fit. His plumber's butt mooned all of our friends who were watching on the webcam. He couldn't put the top down correctly. Unknown to us, it cycled continuously for 6 hours. The car was dead when we got ready to drive out. Everyone had gone home and no one would jump it. The gift shop lady got in a territorial argument with our guy. I ask to set the clock to our MST. He didn't know how. Told us to read the manual when we got home. The alarm went off and he was frantic trying to get it shut off. The interior had goo on it in places and the windshield was smeared. Just the short list. It was a miserable day. And a long one.

Did you get Bobby? I wouldn't call it a nightmare, but he was less than satisfactory.

There is no way to tell you that, because it gets into the dealer allocation issue. Some guys have waited 3-4 months to get an order accepted. Others will never get a 2014 because their dealer doesn't have the allocations. Some have been accepted in the same week the order was placed. Once an order is accepted by GM (status level 2000 or higher,) it takes 4-6 weeks to be produced. The earliest you can get a museum delivery is 2 weeks after production.
