Solid top v transparent top

Melting Slicks
Nope. No more or less squeaky than the other. In fact the C7 roofs don't really squeak at all as far as I've heard.
Only downsides to the transparent top is a bit extra weight (several pounds) which really only factors in when you remove it or put it back on as it makes handling it by yourself a tad bit more awkward. Other factor is heat. It gets hotter to the touch during summer months making it difficult to handle when removing it and also transfers more heat into the interior which may or may not be an issue for you depending on where you live. There are now head liners available that suction cup to the inside of the roof that will help mitigate interior heat.

You can eliminate the squeaks with Danco #78 O-Rings from any plumbing section. Put 2 on each of the front posts and 1 or 2 on each of the back posts. And then coat the rubber with Di-Electric grease. Voila! No squeaks.

I have both tops for my car and neither make any noise. If I had to have only one roof it would be the painted one, but I do like the transparent top if it's not too hot out.

Mike Furman at Criswell Chevrolet posted this thread a week or two ago that shows how to remove a top, but the C7 he uses has a clear top. This was really helpful to me in seeing what it looks like (where every google search I had turned up very little).
