Default Thinking about a C7

Hello all,
I am a current C6 owner and am thinking about a C7.
My question is this...
There is (at least there use to be) a perception that 1st year vehicles can be plagued with production start up issues.

Are any of you C7 owners experiencing any issues or have any complaints with these vehicles? Are there any common complaints?

I currently have a 1LT with the Z51 option. I have found a 2LT with lots of options.

Any comments would be appreciated.

There will be those that say to wait and those that say don't...

There will be those that say they have had issues and those that say they don't...

My experience after about 2 months of ownership (and about 2,000 miles) has been nothing but great....IMO if you found one you like as the Nike slogan says "Just Do It"

You can get a car with some issues in year 3 of a models production just as easily as you can a model year one...

It's a great car now and will be for 2015 models as well...

I have not had a single problem. Car is solid as a rock and does everything it is supposed to. My car was built in February, about halfway through the year's run. I delayed my order because a winter delivery would make no sense and I wanted to let the production line settle in and work out some bugs.

I would not be afraid to order if you want one. You are virtually out of the first year anyway.

First year C4-10+ recalls or service bulletins
First year C5-Absolutely no problems
Second year C6 with first year 6-speed auto-needed trans controller replaced but at 50,000+ miles--you decide if first year for transmission caused this.
First year C7--needs a computer reflash but that would be already updated of course on C7 you buy.

My opinion is you are safe to buy a 2014 C7. I LOVE MINE!

If you want an auto transmission, I highly recommend waiting the 2015. It'll have the 8sp auto.

There is the potential for issues with any new feature that gets added, no matter what year of production. Obviously the 2014's have nothing but new features so the chance of an issue will be higher. Having said that, I have had zero issues after 2k miles. Mines in the 12k vin range so they had that many to practice on...

Mine's in the 19.9 Vin range and I have about 1550 miles on it so far. But, only time will tell. However, I waited until the second year to get my C6 and had to replace the ABS/Traction control module after I owned it for 7 years. My tech told me that it was the first one that he had to replace on a C6. I went for a C7 simply because I'm older now and why wait? They're only going to go up in price.

3k track miles on our shop/track C7 and no issues to date. We did have one customer who noticed a slight vibration throughout the car, took it into the dealership and had the issue sorted out. Since then have heard of no problems. You are and would be fine with ordering and enjoying a very nice corvette. I do wish Porsche was having better luck with their new 991's....

Read through the sticky at the top of the page on problems and resolutions with the C7.

Some problems have been reported, but many have also had no problems at all. I wouldn't hesitate to order one if you are ready to pull the trigger.

I came from an 09 Z06 and I've been VERY happy with my 2LT C7 Z51. No issues to speak of and first year bugs were never a real concern of mine. I bought sight unseen and my car has treated me very well! I think these "issues" are blown out of proportion on Internet forums as there is a tendency for people to post about issues vs praise which unfortunately skews perception.

I think the only consideration this far into the model year is whether or not to wait for the A8 if you are planning an automatic.

I say go for it. I did, and hope to enjoy this amazing car in less than a week.

I had a 2010 Camaro SS, which was a first year model. Ran great, though I did have one issue which was fixed under warranty with no problem. Basically, the fusebox got corroded and the engine started acting like it was missing a cylinder.

I also had a 2012 Chevy Sonic that I had for a year before I got my current car (Audi Q5). That car had no problems whatsoever. Sold it because it wasn't sufficient size to carry camera/video gear on long hauls, but was fine for the time I was living in Seattle.

My 2004 C5 (last year of the C5) was a true lemon, sold it in 6 months with 20 or more documented problems.
My 2005 C6 (first year of model was trouble free for 7 years/50K+ miles)
My 2014 C7 has been trouble free for its first 2700 miles.
Luck of the draw...

Go for it!! The 2015 will have a first year engine in it (8spd auto) so could that be a cause for concern as well?

This was asked here a few days ago and they had to close the thread. Nobody here wants to say the first year will have more problems than the second. Any problem so far is considered normal and you will always get the "I'm at 5000 miles and everything is perfect, life is sort, I've owned 57 first year cars and never had a problem.

I suggest you do research anywhere but here. You need first year statistics from several models compared to later years. The numbers don't lie, on average the following years will produce less problematic cars. Is the 2014 C7 a car to stay away from, no its actually not bad, but expect some of the problems listed here. The C7 did OK for a first year car, the 2015 will be better. There will be people who don't agree but we need them to buy 1st year production cars to find all the bugs.

You will love the 2LT package. Mine was delivered to my home 12/20/13. 4,400 miles on her and NO problems. Go for it!
