Default Apsis: Anybody knows how to remove C7 Front Facia? Please help

Hi All,

Anybody knows how to remove the C7 Front Facia? Is there step by step thread ever posted before? If yes, can you give me the link?

We want to install our Carbon Front Grille and we have followed GM service manual instruction but still can't remove it. We have removed all the screws pointed in GM instruction but it seems there is one more screw at the unreachable location on each side that secure the facia to the upper pc. I am wondering that we may not have to remove that paticular screw.

If you ever remove the Front Facia, please give us some hint.

Thanks.

Why don't you just call Jeff Nowicki Auto Sports and get the $229 piece that covers up the silver bar in the front grille??? Wouldn't that solve the issue???

•Remove front undertrays
•Remove plastic covers at intersection of fenders and nose
•Remove the 4 torx screws and two plastic clips holding the upper bumper to the support
•Remove the two plastic trim pieces between the inner fenders and nose, exposing two
screws
•In the wheel well, remove inner fender liner screws to nose
•Remove lower air deflectors (if equipped)
•Remove front bumper side marker lights
•Nose should be free on top and bottom, clips hold the bumper to the vehicle under
headlights and fenders
•Gently pull on bumper and wiggle under headlights/fenders until it pops free
•Nose can now be removed

Thank you for the post. Very appreciated.

Do you know how to remove this screw? This screw secure the Front Fascia to the Fender but it's not reachable. I check with dealer mechanic and they say we have to remove this screw. But the problem is it's not reachable. Can you guide us how to remove this screw?

Attached is the picture (this is the picture I send to dealer) ------------

I'm not so sure that those screws need to be removed in order to remove the bumper cover from the car. My installer (the one who originally followed the instructions above) never mentioned having difficulty reaching any screws.

Actually we figure out by ourselves. First time not easy. Also get some help from dealer parts manager. Now we know the tricks.

Yes, we finally buy the special long arm rachet that can be adjusted the angle of the socket to remove that hard-to-reach screw. This is the hardest part of the whole procedure.

Time: removing bumper/fascia - It took me about 2 hours to figure out how to remove everything. I am confident I can now do it in 30 minutes now that I know where all the connecting points are.
Time: removing/installing grille – About 5 minutes but I was not in a hurry. LOL
Time: reinstalling bumper/fascia - It took less than 30 minutes and that was getting car off of ramps.

Grille:

Tools:
Nut driver: use for sockets most are lose enough to not need ratchet
Ratchet: ¼
Sockets: 7mm, 10mm
Wrench: 7mm – if you have a 7mm ratchet wrench this will be a plus
Torx: 2 sizes (unknown, I just try them until I find one that fits)
Screwdrivers: flat heads – small to medium
Pliers: needle nose
Did not have but I recommend buying a body trim removal tool kit (plastic)

I did add/edit some of the list posted above and added pictures:

**disclaimer** I hope this helps someone else not to make the mistakes I did when removing the front bumper. I am not an expert, obviously! If anyone has any other tips/procedures that will help others please share.

•Remove front under tray – this is really easy – 4) 10mm bolts (yellow) and 5) 7mm screws (Red)

• Remove 4) 7mm screws 2 each side

• Remove 2) 7mm screws from base of grill (7mm wrench or ratchet wrench)

•Remove plastic covers at intersection of fenders and nose – 1) torx under each side (this is one of two torx each side in next step)

•Remove the 2 torx screws (white) and 1 plastic clip (red) holding the upper bumper to the support from each side

•Remove the two plastic trim pieces between the inner fenders and nose, exposing two screws – I don’t know what this is. I did not have to remove this on a base stingray?

•In the wheel well, remove 3) torx inner fender liner screws to nose on each side

•Remove lower air deflectors (if equipped)

•Remove front bumper side marker lights - just pinch with figures 3) triangle clips – they are part of marker light and do not come off – to remove wire, slide little white clip up on side of plug then pull plug from marker light

•Nose should be free on top and bottom, clips hold the bumper to the vehicle under headlights and fenders
You do not have to unbolt this mount. I used a screw driver (small flat) working from outside to inside to release clips. This is where a good set of plastic body tools could be handy.

•Gently pull on bumper and wiggle under headlights/fenders until it pops free - *warning* You need to release these 2) clips/tabs next to the headlights. They slide in from the top… pulling forward will rip these tabs. Release clips/tabs with a screw driver and lift up and then gently pull on bumper and wiggle under headlights. There are 2) clips/tabs under each headlight, they don’t have a release you just pull them out.

•Nose can now be removed

Removing grille:
• Remove 2) triangle metal end clips (red arrows) – I used the needle nose pliers
• Release plastic clips/tabs (white circles) - I used the needle nose pliers

Close up of plastic clips/tabs that need released

Installing grille:
• I started on one end and work to the center continuing to the other end. The grille went in easy, just make sure that all clips/tabs lock in place. Reinstall the 2) triangle metal clips on the ends and you are done. Easy!

eBay - It's a 2015 OEM Z06 grille, seller had 2 (the only 2 to be known to make it out so far).
