Default Can I add HUD later? C7, 1LT

Hey guys! I'm excited to be possibly ordering a c7 on Monday and I'm still trying to decide if I'm going 1lt or 2lt. The only thing that I'd "need" from the 2lt would be the addition of the heads up display. On my c6 I know they made aftermarket units, but on the c7 I'd be looking to get an OEM unit, but maybe a bit down the road. Is there any reason that my 1lt wouldn't be able to get a HUD installed later? I'm not sure if the 2 use different wiring harnesses, computers, etc --- thanks for any info!

Not easy, not recommended, and that's from the C6 Forum installer Andrew6:

I know there are differing opinions but I love HUD. Got used to having it on my C6, love the full color implementation on my C7. If you can find a way to swing 2LT, do it up!

I went with the 2LT interior and navigation. The two systems are integrated into one astounding unit. Now the standard electronic package will put up a digital display inside of the electronic tachometer. The combined displays available on the HUD have to be selected separately.

I would think for the difference in the price of a 1LT vs 2LT, the price of the parts PLUS the nightmare if it goes south on you at some point in the installation (and afterward) it would be money well spent on going 2LT. And if somehow the electronics crap out - whether it was something you did or not - Chevy is going to say the your warrantee is now voided because of the install.
When I look at the cost of going to an upgrade I look at how long I plan on keeping the car (or whatever) and then what it comes to each month and it really doesn't seem like a hell of a lot vs looking at it as a lump sum....

He said it took him 12 hours just to put the dash back in. Ouch!

That was a pita **** of a job. I'd recommend spending the money and getting a 2lt if you can swing it and want HUD.

not worth the headache to "add" it later. Go to a 2LT, you'll be happy you did. I had the cooled seats going yesterday, it was great.
