Default C7 'vert vs. Jag F-type, C&D comparo

Enjoy!

(note that they commented about the cooling of the A6)

Really liked this article. Amazing that they clocked a 0-60 time of 3.7 secs with the A6 - I guess the A6 really is faster than the stick. Wonder if they used launch control?

I thought the comments about the A6's performance were spot on.
They even commented that upshifts "happen nearly as fast" as the very well regarded Jag 8-speed.

And there you go...a magazine-obtained 3.7 0-60 and 119 mph quarter mile trap speed.

I wouldn't be surprised if overheating is less of an issue with the A8.

Their highly subjective score for Exterior Styling is: Corvette 8 F-Type 10

After seeing the F-Type in person a few months ago, I was not all that impressed with the styling. The entire side of the car is a big slab with no personality. Rear deck is nicest feature. Overall, it looked nice, but not fantastic.

If it were me it would be Corvette 10 and F-Type 8.

The F-Type is a fun drive, but it feels more restrictive in the cockpit. I did like the rising center console vent though.....

Nice write up. The Stingray is such a nice performing vehicle. The acceleration from 50-80 is really fast. People love this car. I drove with the top down for the first time and it's amazing how comfortable it is. I was wearing a hat and at no time did I feel like it was going to blow away.

This car is freaking fun!

Anybody seen any reviews from any mags where the "Fit and Finish" of the C7 has been rated poorly (or even commented upon negatively, for that matter)?

I haven't seen one.

It's amazing how similar the performance numbers are with the F Series. I love accelerating from a red light, smoothly and consistently. Not peeling out....just a nice, steady acceleration. The car pulls so smoothly and strongly. BUTTA

Nice review and seems the C7 is holding it own against the more expensive competition

Great comparo!

"Fortunately, it's phenomenal and utterly convinced that it's a dual clutch automatic. It cracks off shifts without delay."

The 8 speed in the Jag has consistently been raved about yet there are some unique distinctions between the ZF and 8L90 that indicate the 8L90 will be even better. There's no doubt it's going to clearly elevate the Vette.

I don't think anyone has paying anything near MSRP on a Jag Convertible since last year.

Good call, that jumped out at me on the Final Results chart also, giving the vette a 9, the same as the jag. (The fit and finish on my car seems about a 9).

The 6 speed auto trans overheated, the write-up said. That could be the Achilles' Heel of the new 8 speed, too. Sure hope not--it needs to have big external coolers that are track ready and have plenty of capacity in reserve.

C&D conveniently overlooked Jaguar's horrendous reliability record - dead last among major brands. You couldn't pay me to own one. Seems like the mags are finally getting over their anti-Corvette bias thanks to the materials advances in the C7.

I agree. I would have a hard time talking myself into buying a Jag, simply because I don't know I could trust it to own and drive for several years.

No such fear with the Corvette as all mine have been very reliable, and it's one of the easiest sports cars on the planet to maintain.

Which may not be fair to the new Jag - it may be worlds better than previous Jags. I just wouldn't want to make that bet. I also prefer the lower hood line and dash sightline afforded by the Corvette's compact engine, which the Jag can't have with its dimensionally large mill.

My wife's 08 XK, pure sex on wheels

but it was in the shop more than on the road. The Prince of Darkness' DNA was still present in our 08 Jag. BTW our listed for $87K back in 2008.

Traded it on a 2012 Volt. To be honest we love the Volt. One of the best kept secrets in the automotive world. Has been PERFECT out of the box.

And while the Jag may have left a lot to be desired in terms of realibility I loved the color. So I just ordered a Lime Rock Green 1LT coupe. Gotta give the Brits credit for making GREEN a respected color in the automotive kingdom.

I saw the Jag last week at a dealership, beautiful car.

If I was not getting the ZO6 the Jag would be on my Top 3 list of cars to buy.

It is amazing that a car magazine got 3.7 with the Vette. Most suck at getting fast times. I've seen magazines get as high as 4.4 secs 0-60MPH, WTF?

Although the 4.4 was with the manual

Wow, just realized that time is with the ragtop, even more amazing

The price differential could have easily been much higher. A 2LT Z51 convertible could be had for many thousands less than the test car and done just as well in the comparo. Don
