It's a rolling code, so stealing it does no good.

Well for one thing, GM doesn't have to replace your ignition switch....

I have an Iphone 5S and used the fingerprint reader for a while, but turned it off. If you use your hands a lot and wash them frequently, like I did when doing some home improvement projects recently the scanner quits working for a period of time. Washing your hands a lot alters the fingerprint enough to cause the reader to error requiring you to enter the pass code.

I don't think I'd like one of those 80's numeric pads on my car door for backup. Save the FOB!

Not coming anytime soon and certainly NOT in this generation (C7) of Corvette.

Personally, I'd much rather have the FOB. It's more functional, more secure and more reliable. As long as you have it on you, you can get right in to the car.

The last thing I'd want to do is futz with a wet finger print scanner in the rain. If you have the iPhone 5S with the finger print scanner which I do, you'd agree. It's a novel idea but far from perfect and not very fast let alone reliable.

My wife cant get the fingerprint scanner to work on her 5s, my fingerprints work fine on hers and mine. She just doesnt get it lol.

What I would like to see is a RFID chip in a credit card with a punch out emergency key to pop the hatch in case the car battery goes dead along with the fobs. Could just use passive and if you had to unlock/remote start from a phone if you had to. Good thing is you will never drive away without your wallet

OK, OK, I know a lot, maybe most of you guys like this technology stuff, but when I read through the postings, what I see is an endless parade of more stuff this car needs. Folding mirrors, Blue-Tooth interface with the cigarette lighter, etc., etc.

Have you done any behind-the-dash work? There isn't that much more space readily available.

When the specifications were first released, there was a general consensus that the car was overweight. Like 200-300 lbs, heavier than anticipated. Well, most of it comes from the luxury/convenience stuff that everybody seems to be crazy over.

I would be willing to bet that even the most tech savvy guys will end up using only a tiny fraction of the different functions or selections that are possible. They'll end up using a small percentage based on what they have determined what their favorites are. But the car will be lugging around all these things whether you use them or not.

Now, as the car is barely reaching the hands of consumers, we're getting a steadily increasing stream of complaints about - what? Almost all the problems are in the Infotainment area, or more basic things like getting in or out.

I thought this was supposed to be a sportscar, not a rolling video arcade. I think the Camaro people have produced a more pure driving machine than the Corvette camp, so far.

I just don't want to see the Corvette turn into another Thunderbird where the primary purpose is coddling.

It's hard to believe all this started with swapping out the carburetor for FI, isn't it?
I totally disagree!
I purchased the C7 for the advanced electronics. Design also helped. In the 150 miles that I have driven, the following items have been tried. Hill hold assist, navigation, radio favorites, modes (tour, sport & track), rev match, home link, seat memory positions, all 7 gears, fuel mpg/trip set A. I have been busy trying the various items, still have to sort out the optimum settings/procedures. Yes some items will not be desired/used but I applaud the fact they are there for my enjoyment.

Some don't like all the advancements that have occurred in the last 5 - 10 or 20 years that have been included on the C7. My advice; don't purchase the latest and greatest if you want an antique.

I guess we'll just have to disagree about what makes a sport car. None of those things you mentioned help the car drive any better, they are just there for your amusement/information. But I bet they are going to be a source of frustration in the future.

I was watching a Formula 1 race a couple of weeks ago, and I watched as one of the drivers entered a corner slowly (at least for an F1 car) and then to continue the arc of the turn as the track straightened out and he left the track. A little embarrassing, and probably caused by looking down at his steering wheel trying to figure out some switchology. I would not be surprised if some of these C7 crashes are being caused by trying to figure out some of these systems on the fly.

My antique, if I had the option would have the electronic diff, maybe the MRC, Z51, but would be minus 13 speakers, minus 8 way electric adjustable seats (or however many there are) minus "Infotainment" system (I wonder how much somebody got paid to invent that word), no HUD. It would have DOOR HANDLES so that you don't have to start searching for the operator's manual when it malfunctions. I think they could get rid of 50 pounds of sound insulation and it would still be ok.

After taking off all that stuff and I'm sure there is more if I looked at a list, it would have to be faster, don't you think, but maybe not as entertaining while cruising the Interstate or while parked in a parking lot. That's sacrifice I would make.

I stand corrected: you did mention Mode. Maybe that help the car drive better. My fault.

I'd love to see NFC from my phone replace the keyless fob.

What if it were raining?
What if it were snowing?
What if the scan pad were frozen?
What if you were an amputee and had to drive with hook hands?

I am fine with the FOB. Automatically locks and unlocks the doors, start the car etc. with just the FOB sitting in your pocket!

See! My nose print idea would work perfectly if you had this affliction!
