Wave conspiracy: Urgent News.
I was prompted by some of my C6 buddies to post this in other forums to give each of you a heads up.
Here is my story.
A C4 crossed paths with my C6 today. I waved. He didn’t. I was very offended that he did not return my wave so I turned around and followed him. I kept pulling up next to him and waving then pulling back but he still did not return my friendly wave. This went on for 50 miles or so. I became impatient and tried to nudge him so he would pull over. I was hoping to be able to explain to him that his lack of a nice wave was not a positive display of brotherhood.
He seemed upset for some reason and locked his doors. I continued to try and discuss the wave to him through his window but I don’t think he could hear me so I raised my voice. He still did not seem to hear. It looked like he was trying to call me on his cell phone but I know he could not possibly have my number so I kept pounding on his window and waving. After a few minutes of this the police arrived. Initially I thought “thank god”. I was hoping the police could talk some sense into the C4 driver.
I then decided to file a complaint regarding the lack of Corvette courtesy but they only seemed interested in the driver of the C4. Far be it from me to jump to conclusions but he was clearly avoiding my wave and IMO this was not a case of “he didn’t see me”.
At this point, the police placed a restraining device on my wrists which I believe was to keep me from continuing my attempt at a friendly wave. To thwart this attempt I turned my back to the C4 driver and waved as best I could. Be warned, I believe the authorities are in on this non wave conspiracy.
After a few hours, they told me I was released on my own recognizance. After explaining my thoughts to the local news stations, which were waiting for my release, I headed home. I passed someone in a C3. They spotted me and had a look of fear on their face. I assume they either saw the news or it was their first experience in a Corvette and wanted to impress. I waved and they seemed to go out of their way to make sure I could see their wave. What nice people.
Hmm is that a C7 I see up ahead?

Nice satire on the whole wave thing. When I had first gotten my C6, I made it a point to wave at everyone. I was young and people probably figured I was driving around on my dad's car, most of them didn't wave back. Of course, I live in Florida, they probably couldn't see me (cataracts and all).
I typically wait for them to wave now and I wave back. I guess for that split second in time we pass each other, we have a wave-off to see who is going to wave first. Sort of like when girls have a poop-off in the public restroom.

Lol. For the first one or two months after having my c5 (which was my first vette) my friend who was more into them at the time said in a stern voice "why didn't you wave to him?" as another vette drove past me one day....I had no clue what the wave was but from that day on I waived, boy did I wave. When people didn't waive back I always thought they too could be in their first vette and do not know good vettiquette

In the spirit of keeping this tradition alive I ave waved an a half dozen C6 owners since getting my C7, I've not been waved back to a single time. Not once.
I'm over it.

I've found, after talking to other generation owners, they did not recognize that my car was a Corvette. It is radically different coming at you then any other generation. Lately I have been getting and returning waves.

I wave no matter what car im in. Some guys probably wonder why they are getting waved at by a dude in a chevy cruze. Then again, they probably don't even notice.

My wife and I always used to wave at every other Vette we ran across. But we stopped because we would always get a headache. And that loud banging noise was distracting
Now we only wave when we have the top off...
