Finally! I did a side-by-side comparison of 2LT / 3LT black interiors (Pics added)
We all know the differences between 2LT and 3LT, including Mulan vs. Napa leather, different distribution of the secondary color, standard navigation in 3LT, etc. What was less clear (to me at least) was whether or not there are obvious differences in the look and feel of the 2LT and 3LT solid black interiors. Here at the bash I was able to do a side-by side comparison; the answer is a resounding "Yes!"
Before I continue, let me say that to my eyes both look great; I'd be proud to own either. Now for the comparison.
2LT: The material used to cover the upper dash and upper door panels is not genuine leather. It looks and feels like the material used on the upper dash of a 1LT/2LT/3LT C6; that is, a high-quality vinyl with a lot of texture. It's very rough to the touch and the "grain" is readily apparent.
3LT: The material used is a very smooth leather with barely any texture or grain. To me it looks and feels much "richer" than the 2LT material; my wife, on the other hand, much prefers the 2LT material.
Bottom line: The differences in look and feel are very obvious. After experiencing them both I'm leaning toward getting 3LT but others will prefer 2LT regardless of the price difference. If you're trying to decide, the best thing to do is check them out yourself.
I'm adding a few pics that I took today.
2LT - notice the rough texture and grain.
3LT - this is the genuine leather. The finish is very smooth and almost completely without grain.

Yes, this is true. The 2LT leather doesn't feel as smooth as the 3LT leather.

I think GM chose 2LT as the value and volume leader for the C7. Those that want to load up their C7 will most likely lean toward the 3LT. My dealer also told me that as far as value down the road when you want to sell or trade it in nobody will care whether it is 2LT or 3LT since so little of the seat is real leather anyway.

I love the way adrenaline red looks in 3LT.

Once again some good info there, now I know I don't have to use leather conditioner on the dash, just the Kalahari door inserts and seats, it'll save me a bit of money.

I was early for my appointment to purchase the black/black C7 I had picked out and found myself with a few minutes of browsing time and changed my mind based solely on another C7's adrenaline red 3LT interior. Now, the interior is the first thing other's talk about when viewing or sitting in my Corvette.

Hey, could you comment on the stitching? Is it silver on both trims?
The 2LT is VINYL, not leather . And it's vinyl everywhere, except the seat inserts. I was expecting the door and center console arm rests to be leather, but only on the 3LT are. Having said that, the vinyl wrap with contrast stitching looks a million times better than the acres of hard plastic on C6 Vettes. Most other cars are just plastic, so kudos to GM for using vinyl wrap rather than just plastic.
Finally, it really pisses me off GM charges 3 grand for the leather 'wrap', when Porsche charges $2,400, and that includes the entire dash (upper and lower), plus the entire center console area. In my case, I really want the Alcantara headliner, so that's an incentive to spring for the 3LT. But as noted, with so little difference, it's going to lose even more value than it did on the C6. I had to sell my 4LT GS as a 3LT. Oh well. Have a good one folks.
