Z51 vs Base coupe
If you don't plan to track the car, is the base unit adequate. I am having trouble finding a Z51 2LT equipped the way I like, but have seen a few base cars. Also, does the exhaust sound warrant the price? One more question for the forum members, If I wait and pre-order a 2015, what is your consensus about another price increase.
Thank you for you responses and I enjoy reading the forum.

NPP is great, but if you can't get it and are not satisfied, there are plenty of even louder after market ones for a lot less than z51 mop option..

The car really does everything well for a sports or touring car it is like Superman & Clark Kent.

I found the color and options I wanted (VY, 3LT) in stock locally, but it wasn't Z51. After thinking about it, I don't plan on tracking my car, so my main reason for wanting Z51 was bigger wheels and brakes. There's aftermarket wheels I prefer to the stock wheels, and I can upgrade the brakes (mainly for aesthetics, I love big brakes) with Z51 or even bigger aftermarket. In the end, I'm glad I didn't pass this car up and am completely satisfied with my non-z51 coupe.

Once you have had it you won't want it without both Z51 and Magride Driven both
On the street there is a HUGE difference
http://www.autoblog.com/2014/04/22/2...rtible-review/
The Corvette C7 has earned countless accolades since its introduction last year (including a few with my name on them) but extended time driving the Stingray Convertible platform with the standard brakes, wheels, tires, differential and base suspension made me realize that not all Corvette models are equally as fantastic – in this softer configuration, the very capable platform isn't being fully exploited. The experience is comparatively deflating.
But while I wouldn't recommend the C7 without the Z51/MRC combination, a slight miscalculation with the options list isn't catastrophic enough to force it off my short list. The Corvette remains an exceptional sports car and an unbeatable bargain, which is only improved when it arrives in the form of a 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible with a folding top.

If the Z51 is not out of budget I would get it.
The most impressive part about the car to me is its off the line performance. The amount of traction you get is phenomenal considering the power.
A lot of that goes to the E-diff. I have not driven a base car but I'd have a hard time believing that your going to get the same without the E-diff.

I opted not to get the Z51 option. I chose to spend my money on the 3LT. While I love the Z51 wheels, the Z51 option and 3LT would have pushed me past what I wanted to spend. As for the non-Z51, it is a vast improvement, in every way, over my 2009 base coupe with the Z51 option. I am completely satisfied.

Thats too bad the improvement is huge with MR/Z51 combined

I owned an 08 Z51 ( even reshocked the car and it was very nervous
It's a combination of the 2 that make this car ride so much better than any of the others, I am serious the Magride on rough roads makes the car so smooth especially compared to the standard car, or my Bilstein equipped 911 997.
The Z51 with mag ride is standard on European cars. the difference on the Autobahn in touring at 150 mph is amazing you could cruise all day
at 60-80 its like night and day when you change modes
I am not exaggerating the difference in monumental enough all of the track school cars have both as well
The Magride is most of it along with the E diff you can only get magride with Z51 due to this.
I was so glad I got to compare that why I pointed out the article

I'll stay away from the Z51 topic but I have to say that the NPP really amazed me. If it sounds half as good from an observers point of view as it does from the drivers point of view it is a must have IMO.

Having said that, if you can swing it, I recommend it.

Drove the Base, then the Z51 then the Z51 with Mag ride

Another valid opinion is that the Z51 is not completely necessary if you don't track the car.

Many people make too much of some options. The Stingray is a great car even with zero options. No one has walked up to my car and said "What options do you have?" It is only Corvette fanatics that care. The car is a knockout in any configuration. Myopinion, of course..
