Default OnStar Deactivation

I pulled the OnStar fuse in the trunk and the mirror light fuse under the hood. Now, I found that the compass disappeared. I played around and found that I need the trunk fuse but not the under-hood one.

So much for trying to get rid of "big brother". I can do it but sacrifice the compass.

If you are worried about Big Brother, I highly suggest you never leave the good ole USA. Amazing the information "some" countries have on the people there.

Why do you want to turn off OnStar? If it's paranoia, I assume you're removing the "black box" as well, right?

It's easy to tell my feelings about .gov and its intrusiveness into our everyday lives from my avatar(s) and attendant text.

But even *I'M* not so paranoid so as to worry about OnStar

I've owned at least 6 vehicles with OnStar and I just don't want to be bothered with it. It has never done anything for me and I don't want to accidentally activate it which is very easy to do just by cleaning or adjusting your mirror.

I think you have to call to activate it, but the dealer may have already entered some account information.
