Default The Corvette brotherhood....really?

if there is such a thing as a brotherhood among corvette owners, you know, like a bonding thing because we all own a particular car, why is it that there is such hostility on the forum at times? also, why is it that so many owners do not wave back at an owner who waves at them? is it because even brothers do not get along sometimes?

do you feel that you belong to a brotherhood?

I've been snubbed by a few c6's with the wave.( probably hate the c7s rear end ) But for the most part I would say yes it's kinda like a brotherhood.

We're all brothers except the non z51 automatic c7 owners jk

We (my wife and I) *ALWAYS* wave at other Vettes no matter what car we're in at the time.

(we get some strange looks when we do it from our beater Dodge pickup )

I believe the brotherhood is alive and well "in person". On the Internet, not so much.

Because I own a particular brand and model of car? Nope, not at all. I don't own any article of Corvette clothing. I don't belong to a Corvette club. I wave at other Vettes but I don't look for them and have probably missed some. I drive mine year around in CO. I even drive it in the rain occasionally. My '08 coupe had almost 50k miles when I traded it for the C7. I don't put it away for the winter. I don't treat it as garage art. I let other people drive it. I am most definitely not the typical Vette or C7 owner.

I do get a laugh out of everyone describing their C7 as a "Z51..." That's an option, not a model.

I think so!, as far as the wave goes I wave at all the vettes (if I see them in time) even when Im not in my vette (that screws with a few heads i bet" was that my cousin? ")
As far as the C6,C7 thing goes I'm pretty sure its the minority. I like seeing all the Vettes so take that!!!!must be raining here today ,WHEN THE SUN RISES WE RIDE!!

In the past, I organized several local Corvette get togethers, and met many great Corvette owners. I often see them at car shows and other events.

I always wave too. Some may not be familiar with the wave or may just be too caught up in their own little world. At shows and other places, it seems like Corvette guys gravitate towards each other. As such, I'd say there is bit of a brotherhood if you want to call it that. I liken it to people that have something in common more so than a brotherhood.

As for the Corvette brotherhood on the forum. I think the forum is similar to alcohol... It can bring out the worst in some people or some of the worst people just tend to hang out in the forums. Either way, it certainly is only a small few that fit that profile anyway. On the whole, I think the Corvette community in general is a well rounded group of people that share a passion for a great american sports car and for the most part have a great deal of respect for each other and their rides. In that context, I'd say the "brotherhood" is alive and well.

It's a brotherhood to me. I always wave, have been for 25 years since I bought my '87 in 1989. The embarrassing part is when I forget and wave when in my Camaro or GMC Yukon.

As for this forum, like most forums, it can be a great learning tool or a strange place. On the gun forums we call them Keyboard Rambos. My personal forum code of conduct is "If you would not say it to someone's face, don't say it on a forum."

You know how it is.
I can call my brother an idiot, but no one else can.

I applaud your closeted, utilitarian approach to Corvette ownership. You are not unique, nor are you cool because you allow people to drive your car and it actually sees inclement weather. Thanks for hogging the one spot the Corvette world has for set aside for pragmatic usage. Let me know if you ever decide to relinquish it as, I too, someday hope to find the inner zen calmness required to bring my garage queen out amongst the great unwashed.

I am also happy to tell you that I own a Z51 Corvette C7. Laugh away, I'm fairly certain nobody cares. Oh yeah, my Silverado is a Z71 model and Chevy put a big sticker with that silly RPO code right on both my rear fenders so that everyone could send you into gales of laughter by calling it a Z71 Silverado.

You are not better than any of us because of how you use or name your car. Get over yourself........and yeah, I wave.
