Confirmed this week. I talked to a salesman with a spec sheet. Also, there will be a front cam to record how you drive at the track so it can let you know what you did wrong and how you can improve.
I would think the 8 speed automatic would be pretty smooth in comparison to the 6 speed. Anyone out there with an automatic C7 comment on the smoothness of the shift transitions?

I doubt the 'salesman' has a copy of the 2015 spec sheet, as it hasn't even been introduced.
Post a pic when you get a chance of the sheet.
2015 (per GM VP--and noted here many times) C7 will not have 8 spd, just Z06 will.

I never believe "salesman" or should I say "salespersons" simply because over many years of buying all kinds of vehicles I could count on my 2 big toes the number of times they knew their product as well as I did.

GM has confirmed no 8 speed in the 2015 Stingray... only the Z06. Stop believing sales person BS I also call BS on the sales person have a 2015 spec sheet... tell him to show it to you because it doesn't exist yet.

GM confirmed no stingray A8 for 2015 which is really too bad.

P.S. I'm happy to be wrong but I have not seen anything credible from GM suggesting otherwise.

I'm happy with my A6 just as I was happy with my 2005 A4. If the car is used as a daily driver, not a track car, the A6 is perfectly adequate for my needs. I'm not sure I would be comfortable getting an A8 in the first year of introduction anyway.

I feel the same way. Still waiting on mine but all the software updates to the 2014s reported in this forum would make me think that despite all their best efforts, the 8-speed might have some teething issues. Don

Maybe I missed it, but I haven't seen anything yet one way or the other from GM, whether the stingray will have the 8 spd in 2015. As to many vette salespersons being morons( NOT all), we all know the answer to that one.

Yes you missed Tadge Juechter stating that they still have development work to do mating the 8-speed to the Stingray and that they have "a lot on their plates" with the development of the Z06 in an interview. Not confirmation but a pretty good indicator. We will all know in April until then it's just speculation.

I'm OK with the A6, my man parts are still firmly intact as well. The shift programming is decent and you can have some fun with the paddles but its nothing like my old DCT E92 M3 or PDK 911s. Not a chance of getting any torque converter auto acting like them though..
Not many downsides to an 8 speed, depending on what they do with the ratios of course. If they just put a lower 1st gear and tack on another OD ratio it wont be that great. But if the slightly deepen the 1st gear and narrow up all the ratios it will be nice. especially for part and full throttle downshifts - there will be less 'bad' spots to floor it from.
Of course quicker shifts will be nice, plus I'm sure if its going into the Z06 it will be a stronger trans than the present A6. They may even be able to get a get better overall efficiency out of it which will help keep pace with manual for the roll racers. But if its a stronger/beefier trans it may suck up more power and stay reserved for the higher HP versions.
I have an A6 and of course I would take the A8, but with a fairly light car and a flat torque curve the A6 seems fine to me. Big advantage would be being able to keep the car in 4cly mode more and get better fuel mileage.

Order a 2015 based on the "fact" that it will have an 8 speed auto.

With 450 ft lbs of torque a four speed automatic would suffice. The six speed automatic in my C7 is fine. Does not search for the right gear like some transmissions with more speeds. Actually this Corvette would haul the mail with a power glide. Do not get carried away with changes designed to make you want to trade. There are thousands of really super C6's out there because of insecure Corvette owners. Me? I sold my 2002 C5 because twelve years was enough.
