Rumor or True Strike at corvette plant
Can anyone comfirm if there is talk of a strike at the corvette plant. A buddy of mine said he read on another forum there may be a strike at the corvette plant. Any feedback would be welcomed

Don't know but that would seem to be dependent on whether or not a union contract has expired or about to expire. And that union contract would likely affect multiple GM plants and not just BG.

I remember the last UAW strike on September 24, 2007, I had ordered my 2008 coupe in August and was waiting for it to be built in late September, hoping that I could enjoy my new Vette before winter set in the North Country.
The strike occurred during my TPW and really got the dealer salesman and I PO'd. Fortunately, it only lasted two days and was quickly settled. My TPW moved one week and was built at the end of September and arrived on 10.07.2007.
Now I may be in the same boat with a new C7 on order!

Generally workers do not want to strike so I am sure that the union leaders will do everything in their power to avoid it. On the scale of things an underpaid job is better than no job

You have to really wonder how many more years the automotive industries will be at the mercy of these moron unions.

From what I read they are just taking a vote to be able to strike if things don't get worked out at the table. I'am sure both party's want to work it out without a strike the way sales are going.

Always a lot of rhetoric, but there must be something going on.
Wonder if Dave Tatman's decision was entirely his.

Believe the strike vote is today "Tuesday" and it gives the union the power to call a strike. Doesn't necessarily mean they are going out on strike, just that the union will have the power to call a strike if negotiations break down.
If the workers at BG are mad and unhappy I would think this would not be a good time to have my Corvette on the line!!

Union knuckleheads, they'll never get it. What a huge disadvantage for GM to have to placate these people in the year 2014. Tell me, if they had to find another job tomorrow, with their skillset and resume, where could they find a job that pays as well as what they have. Nowhere.

and in the case of disgruntled employees you can have one union strike or no union strike anywhere anytime so I feel like you run the same risk

Look at the potential upside to a strike - the manufacturers of many of the items currently on constraint will be able to catch up, meaning when the strike is settled, fewer (or no) constraints...
